Fire When Ready: A new Star Wars Armada podcast

By Armada Jim, in Star Wars: Armada

I'm confused why would you want to wait to take your opponent?

Great show though as always!

To counteract their tokens to shore up your MoV in a tournament situation. You might not need to, the math may be in your favor, but if they down one or two of your ships and hang onto the tokens for enough turns, you might want to hold off on killing them right away, as their points subtracted from your 400 could drop you from an 8 pt victory to a 7 point one. Letting the game go on for another round or two could counteract that as long as you hold the tokens. Same goes for Contested Outpost.

I thought you couldn't score higher than 400 now

Also I'm thinking that Sato will be before the roll not after. Otherwise I think it would be worded the same as the new turbo laser.

You can score higher than 400-, but your MoV can't be higher than 400. Big difference.

Gosh I hate minefields. I never pick it, unless I'm large ship and stack Eng. I've also never had a decisive game with MF. It ruins your day, your navs, your plans, so both players opt to run or never cross the MF.

I also never ran it because despite having a huge impact on the board it would often give you no points at all. I'm hoping Konstantine and Inderdictor will change this. Most Wanted, Fleet Ambush, Minefields is my board disruption package with Konstantine/Grav Well/G8/Titus and x2 Vic. Konstantine can speed up all those who choose to stay put as well as slow down ships in narrow choke points.

Also for Bossk, if he is being ignored (that's pretty great), attack a squadron with counter if able. Maybe they choose not to but maybe they don't :) Great vs Rhymer/Fireballs carrying Mauler.

I have heard tell of an FFG email which indicates that you cannot use Boba Fett's ability on your own ships...

That is correct. It a question I personally asked.

Boba Fett must target "Enemy Ships" or "Enemy Squadrons."

Not "Enemy Ships" or "Squadrons".

Broadside assist may be set up wrong for the visual guide. Some obstacles don't look like they are 5 apart.

Loved the podcast!

I realized I haven't been posting on here about episodes in a while, but I've done a couple since last time and am up to episode 20 now, so if you've been missing them because I haven't announced them here, there's probably a couple new ones.

I'm all caught up on core set objectives and Wave 2 stuff, so I'm going to be heading into 3 & 4 in the next couple (which should come out more regularly now) while I get a handle on the newest wave coming in a day or two.

Im subscribed via RSS. Im pretty sure they are in my queue. Cant wait, thanks!!

Holy hyperspace, there's a new episode! Flotillas, Carrie Fisher memories, fun ideas for your store await! I swear it won't be nearly as long before the next one.

Yaay, finally dude been waitin...

Surprised me with that intro, nicely done!

99% sure the hammerhead has 5 hull not 3.

Most of the time an x17 on an isd will be better than the mk title.

I'm looking forward to listening. It's in my queue, via RSS feed!

Looks like a 3 to me, but blurry is as blurry does.

When we're specifically talking about the starter lists for a campaign, I think the ECM is the way to go on the ISD. It increases survivability which is pretty huge for the start. MK doesn't do that, but it punches above its weight on that first game by sheer utility. XI7s are good against ships with redirect; MK works on everything, from the corvette that would like to cancel a die then spread out the remaining damage to an ISD that has to choose between bracing less that damage in one arc and spreading a big hit all over.

Agreed. The voice work is strong with this one!

Really great podcast. That new intro was really good.
