Having only watched The Clone Wars recently (finished last night), I finally got to see a YV-666 in action and it got me to wondering if either of the new Scum ships in Wave 8 had actually been seen at any time, or if they are essentially just made for X-Wing?
Has the Jumpmaster or Mist-Runner had any screentime?
No. However, they have existed before this. I'm not quite sure where they first showed up, but I do know the old SWCCG was the first I saw them.

I knew that about the Jumpmaster (saw the picture of it a good while back) but was just curious - thank you for the answer.
Misthunter was mentioned in Tales of the Bounty Hunters from way back when. But that ship seems to be completely different from the one we are getting from FFG.

FFG's is prettier. ![]()
I think the version of the Mist Hunter we're getting is heavily based on Star Wars Gamer 7.
I was thinking of getting a couple of Mist Hunters just as freighters/senator shuttle etc for missions.
Thoughts of stick with the HWK-290?
P.S. I do not paint so any options that involves that would actually not really be an option for me.
P.S.S. I do have the paper cargo/transports; they are pretty good actually
I thought I shorted the Mist Hunter in the background of the Rebel fleet at the end of the Empire special edition, but in further examination I think not.
The rag tag ships in ESB all deserved treatment as canon ships, as well as the mystery corvette at Endor and the Tector class SD. Maybe one day.
GUNBOAT!

What are you referring to?

These are just the ones from ROTJ. I will try to get some info on the ESB ones.
Edited by GrimmyV...or if they are essentially just made for X-Wing?
AFAIK, the only thing in X-Wing that has been created by FFG for the game is the Imperial Raider. Everything else we've got has at least appeared in the EU at some point.
The Mist Hunter reminds me a bit of the medical ship Reynolds' crew stole in Firefly.

That is a take off of the Hind. Or at least a mock up of one.

Yeah, that was very badly phrased and wasn't how I meant it. I should have said that "FFG essentially resurrected it from the EU for X-Wing."

All the Bounty Hunter ships appeared in that set (except Slave I). So, there is a good chance they were based on something WEG did, Decipher did use them quite a bit.

There are only so many ways to meaningful arrange cockpits. And imho esp the Misthunter also reminds a lot of an amputated helicopter now rather sadly and stupidly looking sitting around in space ![]()
Not sure whether they ever appeared in the WEG role playing game or not (I am going to assume so), but the Punishing One and Mist hunter appearance in the Dagobah set (1997) of the SWCCG by Decipher predates that issue of Star Wars Gamer (2001) by 4 years or so. The SWCCG cards are exactly the ships we are getting.I think the version of the Mist Hunter we're getting is heavily based on Star Wars Gamer 7.
The 'essential' guide to vehicles and whatnot came out around the same time. All the bounty hunter ship designs (save slave 1) were coming out for Shadows of the Empire, with the micromachines of hounds tooth and IG-2000 made around 96 I think, or maybe 95. There was so much stuff coming out back then. Those designs are almost 20 years old.

...except the EU isn't gone. It's still there....until it's overwritten. That's an important difference.
The Punishing One was in an episode of Robot Chicken once. It looked a little different.

My understanding was that they totally invalidated almost all canon and rebranded it "Legends"? If so, nothing needs to be overwritten, the Legends are nothing more than tales told around a campfire.
History became legend; legend became myth...?
Edit: Did FFG troll us with the Punishing One preview for Imperial Assault?

All the 6 ESB bounty hunters received their back stories in the mid 1990s I believe. I'm not sure who developed the images, but I first saw them in the Decipher card game. Most of their old history has been expanded/re-written since - Boba Fett in the prequels, Bossk and Dengar in the Clone Wars.
Almost every thing about scum lore was based in what was now Legends - the old EU wasn't much better than a myth anyway - with lots of contradictions and a poorly funded and managed story continuaty team.
paging BLK to the thread!

To take from their press release:
...While the universe that readers knew is changing, it is not being discarded. Creators of new Star Wars entertainment have full access to the rich content of the Expanded Universe. For example, elements of the EU are included in Star Wars Rebels. The Inquisitor, the Imperial Security Bureau, and Sienar Fleet Systems are story elements in the new animated series, and all these ideas find their origins in roleplaying game material published in the 1980's
Just look at all the stuff that FFG is releasing that is from EU. What I see is that the best stories will be used and most of the background of characters will still be the same. Just some of the worst elements or exactly what happened will be removed. So....everything is in play and potentially exactly as it happens in EU....until they change it.
They aren't just canning everything from EU. They are just not beholden to it.
I don't really understand the argument that the EU stands until the Disneyverse overwrites it.
The EU was, the EU is... and so is the Disneyverse, but they're completely different canons that both use the OT as a starting point.
For me the EU is the one true Star Wars, but it's pretty absurd to think that there's this weird transition going on from EU -> Disneyverse canon that preserves the former until overwritten by the latter. They're different, only tangentially related, and that's all there is to it.
