I guess capital ship painting isn't sooo hard

By ladyjulianne, in Star Wars: Armada

At least for something quick and simple.
Decided to give it a shot rather than finish my fighters lol, none of which I'm very impressed with on my part yet. But my VSD attempt I think turned out alright. Getting a good pic of it seems to be the harder task lol
Paint scheme is based on several I found on the net as well as my old Cardassian fleet for STAW. And the engine area is on hold until I have more time/ambition for source lighting.

Gonna take it for a spin today so will hopefully have some in use pics to post tonight.

Always happy to see people giving things a shot, even when they're outside of comfort zones... Especially when they are. :)

And I'm in Exactly the same spot for source lighting right now... Thats the one part that just isn't enthusing me, so not fault there :D

looks sharp!

the yellow on the wings brings good color and interest to the rest of the ship!

I was mostly intimidated by the size, it's a fair bit bigger than anything I've painted for STAW before. And with far more detail (Thank you FFG for caring about your models). The source lighting is mostly that I haven't slept since yesterday and don't trust myself with it atm. I've dabbled with it for STAW so I think I'll be ok when I'm more awake.

Thanks! I stumbled upon the combination with my Cardassian fleet and fell in love with it lol.

Red underbelly?

looooove the red underbelly!

It can be a bit intimidating on size... Even for people who are used to it... I mean, I've already redone 2 Victories and a Gladiator, but looking at the Brand New ISD.... I'm intimidated at getting that one done... :D

Red underbelly?

For the ISD, I'm following this colour scheme

I'll definitely want an all deep red bottom. As for the colour patches, I'll figure it out

Yes, you were one of those sources of inspiration lol

But more I took the leap because I wasn't the only one thinking of it. It'd been a thought since I did my STAW ships in German colors, but they're so small I didn't think it worth doing.

The red underbelly is bold, but also since it is hidden from immediate view it's also subtle (if that makes sense?).

Your first effort is way better than mine! Keep at it and keep posting!

Black, red, yellow/goldenrod is always a good choice! ;)

love the over all look.... great job

Ahhhhh. is that where the red underbelly idea comes from? Cuz I've seen it before. I even have one of my Glad's with a blood red underbelly.

I approve the color red!

This is not what it currently looks like. I have sense added another black coat and added black to the scars.

Alright my phototaking skills are still bad during a game... I wonder if its my camera...

The fleet was 3 Vic1's and an Imp2, Vader, Tractors, Avenger, Needa, ECM. Learn real quick that the Imp2 shouldn't be left alone. And probably didn't help my opponent ran 4 scout frigates with Ackbar...
BUT

The important part was the 3 Vics looked awesome together, that's what this was for.

The only thing cooler than three Vics is..........

wait... you can run 3 VSD1s in a list WITH an ISD????? I think my brain just popped.

And WOW! 4 shrimp list. Wow! What a cool meta you have.

Also, that table looks like what I play on hahaha! Someone has those green grip mats. The store has those black felt boards. I'm always needing the computer for this game cuz there's too many cards/lists.

If you don't mind, what state are you playing in?

Your painted VSD looks great on the table.

Oh it's not really a meta xD It's one guy and I, the actual meta plays on Wednesdays that I can't get to. He tends to switch things up every other game. Last game he did a shrimp, a football, a Neb, and a CR90 with no fighters. I ran an Imp2, Raider2, Glad1, and a Rhymer ball. Before that he had a bunch of Awings. Before that he did a bunch of X and Y wings. But he seems to really enjoy an all shrimp list. It's very similar to the Age of Sail like games he's used to.

I am playing in Milwaukee, WI (One person in my local EotE group has already stumbled upon me here apparently lol, asked me today if I happen to be the only Twi'lek LOM around)

And thanks :D I've decided to keep the theme and I'll do each ship of its class with one more yellow bar than the one before. I'd color code them instead but as far as I'm concerned that's either a rebel scum thing or a fighter thing, and as a capital ship admiral, I'm above that. *puffs up chest* Proper Imperial admirals use numbers!

(Yes I know that's probably not at all true lol)

Well you do proud those imperials. Man. You sound like you're having fun.

What's a twilek lom?

Ok never mind. Completely different time zone.

It is sad though that in this forum we meet so many people but can't actually ever play them.

This is a Twi'lek LOM :D

Drawn by one of our party members, not myself, btw.

A LOM droid that's had it's bug eyes replaced with 3P0 ones, and Lekku added, so it would be a more amenable sight to its previous Twi'lek owners. Also it's had its chassis covered in integrated tool boxes/pockets/w.e

Huh. Okay. I'm not that good on alien lore.
