Right now, I'm leaning towards 2-3 of each. Probably three of the TIEs and either two or three X-Wings.
Four X-Wings is really tempting, though. Four Blue Squadron Rookies with IA and R2 Astromechs has been pretty fun in proxy play.

I'm just hopping it comes with more than just 1 integrated Astromech mod. I'm already upset that TFA Core only came with one copy of Wired and only 1 of each new Tech card!!

Only 1 copy of IA is included. No $15 blister has had multiples and the preview image clearly shows only one copy in the spread.
So....what is shipping at this point? I ordered all the new stuff in one order. I won't get any until I get them all. So.....I'm looking to see where things might be at this point.

I'm also weighing this up myself - I got 2 copies of TFA core, so think I'm going to go slowly (for once) and just buy one each of the new models until I see how they play and how much I use the cards included. Although I'm tempted to buy 2 of the TIE/fo's just because, as someone else said, 5 feels way more lopsided than 6...even though I will likely never field six...

How long does shipping to sale usually take? 5 days or so?

At least a week, usually.

Usually realeases are marked as "Shipping Now" on a Monday and go to "In Stores" the following Thursday, so about a week and a half. The reality is that some stores seem to get releases a day or two quicker, but that is hit or miss. Based on that schedule, these should release on 12/17, but that could be pushed to 12/18 because of the movie.
(Note that the last batch of things that went to "Shipping Now" didn't follow this pattern, but that's the stuff that came off the boat the week of Thanksgiving, so the schedule for that seems to have been dragged out a bit.)
