There is a difference between "Broken" and a piece popping of its mount etc.. broken to me means it has random fractures in the plastic and or chunks spalled off or missing. (what would happen if one stepped on it) OTOH a wing panel that can be simply snapped back into place with or without a dab of glue is NOT broken..FFG does have great customer service i guess what annoys folks is that we dont want to see it abused because it is good, or worst they start being more discriminating like MOST other places like requiring you to send in the broken ship WITH a dated receipt. personally i would have made the broken ship into an obstacle/blown up ship... or painted it that way if you mess it up no big deal..lol i mean its 9 bucks I cant even get a fast food meal for 9 bucks!! lol but because its only 9 bucks is probably why FFG is cool with being so generous. Wonder if it was a Raider and or CR-90 what would happen? I am a modeler so nothing is ever really broken to me..Just wait tell you have to make an insurance claim or warranty claim on something some day..lol
Homemade dial?
back before wave 2 was out, I traced both halves of a dial on cardboard and cut them out, then glued a printed image of the dials onto the bottom half and held them together with a brass pin/brad. With a couple micro machines we were able to proxy interceptors and a-wings long before their official release
I don't thing FFG really cares what happens to a broken model after they sent a replacement. And they are probably well aware of the business risk they are taking with their customer service policy. So there's really no reason for any outrage.
Truth. My first response was impulsive and my second post was defensive.
My question to most of the people reading this thread -- have you had a defective piece from FFG? Have you got a replacement? What happened? I was missing the ship tokens for the HWK-290 that I got second-hand. FFG was gracious enough to send me the cardboard for the HWK-290. That means I have an extra dial. For me, that was an amazing gesture and my way of saying "thanks" is to hide that dial away so it never gets used and abused. But just because that is my ethical viewpoint, doesn't make that the one right viewpoint. As Lingula said, FFG is a business; they're well aware of the risks they are taking when they send out replacement parts.
And here's another question. Let's say you pulled a HWK-290 out of the package and found its wings were sheared off, so you ask FFG and they send you a new model. You also happen to have Most Wanted. Would you seriously not use the broken HWK so that you can have 2 Rebel or 2 Scum HWKs? I have to admit that my morals would be tested in such a situation. I would probably cave and use both models in that situation, so the OP and I are really not that different. It just took a re-framing of the situation for me to see that clearly.
So I hereby apologize to the OP for my disrespect and hypocrisy before the entire forum!
This is not to say that I approve in anyway of someone trying to fraud FFG out of parts. I don't believe anyone has tried to do that yet and I don't believe that was the OP's intention. I believe he was bummed about a broken ship and contacted FFG. Their response was to send a new ship. They could have asked for the broken ship in return, but they didn't. I'm sure the OP would have sent his broken ship had they asked for it. But they didn't, so when he got the second ship and saw that he could glue his original together, he found himself with a second ship and said, "Hey, why not glue this together and get some use out of ship." There was probably nothing malevolent about the OP's decisions.
Thank you Budgernaut, screw you guy's to everyone else. Lol.
Malevolent intentions, bah! Maybe once there is a 2 page thread about my highly unethical behaviour, then yeah... maybe there's just a wee bit of malevolence. Just a tad... not much...

Just because I'm in a better mood now...
I have also had several peg mounts break off from Tie fighters, core set ones specifically. I never bothered to send a complaint because the problem was easily fixed. Or so I thought. One Tie FO actually required pinning, which if you know what that is, you know it's an effort of not inconsiderable skill. Especially at that scale! I very nearly botched the attempt, and that one FO is still kinda wonky. So, when after painting my new prized Interceptor, it broke while I was trying to gently squeeze it onto it's peg, I was kinda miffed. Hadn't I been through this before already? Now a wing? So I snapped all the pics I could, and typed up my story, pretty much as I'm telling it here now, and hit send. FFG didn't even ask me any questions, I was kind of surprised when they replied with a tracking number. Did you get that? I took pictures and told them the truth. I painted the ships. I went to play with it and the wing popped off with no more force than a gentle squeeze. They sent me a replacement. To me there is no question as to the validity of my claim. I was nothing but up front and honest, and in turn I was treated as such. Case closed.
I knew I could fix the toys, just like I can fix all of them really, and so I was kind of thinking maybe I dunno, they could send me a consolation prize or something? Like a keychain or a hat? I didn't say as much though, because I knew that from reading their parts policy that they would be pretty limited to what they could do. I also wasn't about to ask them for any favours either, wouldn't that be rude? And besides, more to the point, isn't this why they have a complaints department? I spent my hard earned money on their product and they themselves provide a pretty strict standard as to the quality of that product. I would be a STUPID consumer to simply allow FFG to sell me an inferior product and not expect them to uphold their own business standard. It is stupid to waste your money, even when it's your entertainment budget.
Is it unfair of me to play with both ships? Well, let's ask ourselves, who would that be unfair to? The people who bought the Ace Pack? People who bought two Interceptor packs? People who have invested to buy multiples of other ships? Is it unfair to FFG? Let's get one thing straight. How much money a person spends is no one's business. Is it unfair to me that I can't afford to buy an Ace Pack right away, but other players can? Am I hurt by their spending? What if they got their whole collection off eBay? Would they hold an advantage over me? Would it bloody well matter at all? I think any sane person would be able to see the point here. Now is it unfair to FFG? Well I hardly think that will be the last ship I buy so...
But hey! +1 for trying guys!
could send me a consolation prize or something? Like a keychain or a hat?
Oh, absolutely.

How about buying the Imperial Aces Dial pack, doesnt that give you a dial or 3 of every past ship for that faction?

Do you mean the new dial kits with the plastic cover? Those don't come with dials; they come with a ship icon that you can slot into the back of the dial so that you know which ship it belongs to. It comes with tokens for all ships through wave 7. Wave 8 and on should have their own tokens in the cardboard sheet.
So I hereby apologize to the OP for my disrespect and hypocrisy before the entire forum!
STOP!!!! Are you trying to break the Internet???
I have had to use FFG's replacement service once, it was for a Falcon that I received, but it came with the cockpit skewed so much there was an opening in the cockpit that I could not miss, the two halfs of the cockpit itself were also out of alignment with each other. I did attempt to carry on like normal, but the OCD nut inside me didn't want a Falcon that was 'just okay'.
I contacted FFGs replacement service with pictures completely expecting a "Sorry, this isn't considered worthwhile of a replacement." and was very surprised when they sent me a brand new model lickidy split. To this day the defective model sits on my desk, waiting for that one day where I finally decide to give miniature painting or modification a try, at least I won't ruin a perfectly fine model if I mess up.
FFG's customer service is second to none, I also play Star Trek Attack Wing for a little bit of a change now and then and it is so frustrating when I won a prize ship for that game at an OP event and notices the peg AND the saucer section (Assimilated Enterprise D) were skewed, so not only did it dip forward and to the right, the saucer magnified the effect, it looked like a prize ship to be ashamed of...contacted Wizkids...no response. Got a faulty Enterprise A later in the year, after a bit of boogling they did send over a model, but informed me that they only replace 2 components for a game, and this would be my first, so if I get two more faulty items, I am screwed because they won't replace them. Very poor on Wizkids part, I'd hate to see FFG go that way.
