400pt Rebel Bombers

By Gotwalt, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

When I first started with my current play group, there was a lot of crap talking regarding B-wings as a strictly bad fighter. I disagreed, and had a really fun list abusing them, utilizing them as a screening force for a line of Nebulons. Between the Nebulon range, and the ferocity in close of the B-wing, the list did some serious work.

Now with a wave 2 out, and a bit of play testing, I'm trying run with with a new list. The intent was to abuse my B-wings once more, however it has gotten a little bit away from that and become very much a bomber list.

If you have any questions about my unit choices, or recommendations, I would really appreciate your input.

Scenarios:

Superior Positions

Contested Outpost

Precision Strike

395 Total

So this is what I've been toying around with:

MC 80 Command

-Garm

-Adar

-Boosted Comms

-ECM

-Independence

Purpose: Stay alive, keep my squadrons flying

Neb-B Escort:

-Yavaris

Purpose: Let my aces or a couple of Bs double tap each turn

MC-30c Torpedo Frigate:

Purpose: Screen other ships, added activation

-Dutch

-Wedge

-Jan

-4x Bs

Points 395 (not enough for a real initiative bid, so I could throw something else on)

Obj:

Most Wanted

Contested Outpost

Superior Positions (more for the early placement, since getting rear shots with Bs is pretty tough)

Thoughts?

Maybe I should ditch the MC30 (since it wants to close into the middle of the squadron furball) and replace with a CR90A (more standoff) and another squadron.

Maybe run the CR90 with Tantive IV + Raymus Antilles for support.

I like the MC30 as support for a carrier list. That guy, is not someone you want to get into a knife fight with.

I'm running something extremely close to this in the Vassal Tournament (Salvation instead of MC30). I love the hell out of it. My only advise is this: you will be tempted to double tap with Wedge and Dutch. Don't do it. Concentrate on getting those beautiful B-Wing double taps. Jan, Dutch, and Wedge are there to buy the Bs time.

Sounds good. With my Yavaris moving at Speed 2 or 1 to stay out of the main fight, it's been too far back to support Wedge and Dutch anyway. But it definitely works well with the Bs.

I've found that Wedge can die pretty quickly if facing a serious squadron list, so I replaced one of the B-Wings with an X-Wing to escort Jan and the B-Wings. The beauty is that X-Wing gets to use Jan's braces.
