OK FFG!! Where is the updated FAQ and new Margins

By Brikhause, in Star Wars: Armada

Not trying to impress anyone.

Tourney scene here in Dallas is rolling along just fine along with the casual play.

Maybe we are just a bit more grown up about the whole thing.

Oh, you paid for your toy spaceships, well in the light of THAT major seriousness....

Hahaha.

So we're clear, your total contribution so far consists of asinine assertions of your own maturity, vague attacks on the maturity of others, and an appeal to ridicule.

Again, I'm not sure who it is you think you're impressing.

With all the bu++hurt whiny entitlement here for FREE support...

You guys MUST be Millenials. Lol!

Brother please don't go there! I am probably the most conservative guy you will ever meet. Entitlement to me deals with government programs, and expecting free stuff for doing nothing. I invest in FFG's products heavily, and you can ask any of the gaming store or armada player in San Antonio that I am key member in it and have put a lot of time and effort in promoting and organizing both X-wing and Armada. It has tied up a lot of my weekends. I don't think it is to much to ask for a little help on FFG's help when part of my promotion is convincing people what a great priduct FFG sells, and how well their support is.

So please don't turn this into a political thing. And if you are a conservative instead you should be not scoffing at entitlements but on businesses and government programs to empower individuals to put in the work and get a return on it. This is a more positive message, and is in fact in essence of my philosophy for I know it is not just me able to do things, but it also relies on the people around. This why in my area we have established an awesome community that have become a close group of friends helping each other out both on and off the game and bringing each other up and making each of us better. I look at my efforts the very heart and philosophy of conservatism if you want to get political. So no I don't think it is to much for FFG to expect them to hold up to their end because I have done my part as have others and then some.

On the other hand, I AM a little confused on not having anything anywhere official about contain. I didnt find the rules in the dumpster i got my toy spaceships for free out of.

Online support for them on that rule might be nice.

Not about to start a whole thread about how my gaming has ground to a complete halt because of it though....and not about to tell incompetant FFG to "get off their asses" either....its not that big a deal.

I think Brikhause has spent more time explaining the game to new players, selling core sets, and playing boring intro games than he has actually gotten to spend playing the game.

He and several others have worked very hard to create an active and involved competitive scene around here. I guess I just don't see how asking for a stamp of approval on a simple chart is demanding that much.

Honestly, man, if you'd kept a running tally for the number of Armada products you've sold single-handedly it would probably be the majority of this city's total sales, which have been impressive.

Well you don't understand capitalism then. It is a two way street if a customer buys a product the customer expects the business to uphold their end of the bargain. If you purchased a model from FFG and it does not come with all the game components, but you still can play without those components somehow do you not still call customer support to get it from them?

Ah yes, generational attacks, dismissing even legimate complains as "whining," and complaining about complaining. Classics. You are now officially irrelevant. Please exit this thread at your earliest convenience.

Honestly, the most baffling thing here is that FFG's customer support is basically magic.

Break your own ship? Send an email and they'll send you a package of fresh ones.

Receive something defective? Here! Have a whole sack of them!

And yet... somehow... something that could be sorted in an afternoon and distributed to the entire customer base digitally has yet to be released.

Same goes for Rieekan's FAQ. We've been asking questions about him for months, WELL prior to the release of Wave 2, it's been clear he needs it and yet...

Agreed Tvayumat. This is so oddly out of character for them. If this were GW, I'd have rolled my eyes and continued on as the community came to a consensus on its own. Usually FFG is so on top of things I've become a little spoiled. God forbid, I've actually come to expect good customer service.

If this were GW, I'd fully expect to pay $80 for the new MoV chart.

Never let my dissatisfaction with the release schedule be misinterpreted for a lack of gratitude. FFG is awesome which, as you said, is why this is so baffling.

In all seriousness.

You guys whining and complaining about the "lack of support" clearly have no clue.

Try go playing 40k for several years, nuff said.

Try getting into Battlefleet Gothic for starship combat...oh wait, its dead.

Try playing Starfleet battles or ACTA:Starfleet and wait for releases

Dont complain about money spent until youve played Magic.

...or Emperor forbid, 40k again.

FFG puts out such a fine product, thier support, even if its not there, at least you know its in the pipes.

I mean, they actually playtest. Its entirely conceivable that they are waiting for community blowback as more playtesting for FAQs or even tourney data...but noone bothers to think of that.

Stop whining about how much YOU do helping to sell in your puny pond when FFG is thinking world scale and GETTING IT RIGHT like they seem to do every time with thier games. Its embarrassing...or at least it should be, for you.

Fly Casual for chrissakes. Like they do on the xwing forums. FFG as "incompetant" as they are WILL "get off thier asses" and take care of us with this fantastic game we are all lucky enough to be playing.

Then again...go ahead and keep getting mad at me too, stay close minded. You are all ungrateful patrons anyway, far to obsessed with how long its taking to get your FREE SUPPORT that takes manhours and money to give when the game works just fine without it.

But Im wrong...whatever. im too busy playing games anyway. My table works just fine.

/feelsorryforyou

My largest complaint is the lack of an official note on the contain token past the "here they come" articles. Even X Wing has notes in everything about the boost and ion functions. That seems kind of an oversight they should have caught (and that #10 token in the ISD).

I am not losing sleep over a FAQ or tournament rules. It will come when it comes. For now, you should be using the latest versions of both even if it's not what you want.

Actually now you have me curious what the MOV setup at the tournament I went to yesterday was. I didn't play thanks to my car breaking down at the convenient store right down the street.

In all seriousness.

Other companies being terrible has zero relevance to FFG missing what seems like a fairly obvious soft deadline for a simple release.

I am quite familiar with many other companies. Maybe getting screwed by others makes you feel as if you should never expect anything. I consider that a silly position.

You are quite literally the *ONLY* person who has used the word "incompetant" (somewhat ironically misspelled each time) so please stop putting it in quotes as if you're arguing with anyone but yourself.

Utilizing hyperbole in an attempt to make those who disagree with you sound overdramatic does you no credit.

But Im wrong...whatever. im too busy playing games anyway. My table works just fine.

You don't seem to grasp the issue.

NOBODY CARES that YOU are happy with the product as it exists. WE are complaining about a weakness in the release schedule that has caused irritation and mild confusion as a matter of simple historic fact.

Your opinion that other people shouldn't complain, and your insistence on attacking the maturity of others because they have complained is one of the most predictably annoying and wholly unhelpful things someone can possibly do on a game forum.

And clearly, you aren't too busy playing to complain about complaints. Maybe you should go roll some dice with yourself.

That's the thing. Nobody is losing sleep.

We *are* being irritated when tournament day rolls around and we have to shrug and say "Well, I guess we're going with Snuffy's Best Guess for MoV today... again..." which is likely similar to what played out at the tourney you unfortunately missed.

How did that go, by the by? Get your vehicle troubles worked out?

Dude you truly don't get it do you, and you give conservatives a bad name!! I will entertain you for a little while longer because at the very least it keeps this thread bumped to bring to FFG's attention.

Just to let you know I have invested plenty in other games, and have been burned by GW in both Warhammer and 40k. I must have spent over $40,000 in GW products over my lifetime. (12 different armies with over 10,000pts in each). One of the reasons I have not only switched over, but embraced FFG is because their support has generally been, across the board, amazing. I would like to see them continue that reputation. That is why I care about them getting on this issue it is a simple 20 min fix that they should already have done already. I can understand FAQ's not being made already, but even those can be corrected at a later time if there proves to be an oversight. Let us look at XI-7 and AP's ruling for example. FFG knew well in advance of the changes coming with Wave 2 and gave every indication they were prepared for this change. There really is no excuse.

See, I don't even get *this*.

Rieekan's ability is so obviously in desperate need of FAQ, are we really assuming that the people at FFG playtested him so little that none of the numerous issues with his rule interactions came up? If that DID happen, are we really assuming that they have NO IDEA how they want him to interact with other cards, win conditions, and such?

I have a hard time believing this information doesn't exist, at this point, it just seems to be a matter of dissemination and official approval.

In any case, my $.02 on the matter has been put forward fairly clearly.

Throw us a bone, FFG.

A quick search of the thread clearly shows you are the only one to use the phrases "incompetent" or "get of their asses." Congratulations on adding a straw-man fallacy to your argumentative sins. Please go back to "enjoying your game." You are contributing absolutely nothing.

Tvayumat- I had the starter replaced at the local shop while I watched nearly 2 rounds. Despite not playing and spending $320 between the fix, tolls, and gas, I had a great day.

Ouch sorry to hear that bro! Way to stay positive about it though, I guess! Move to San Antonio! Great community and events here! I am going to hate having to leave this place.

You know, it's one of those things that keeps getting said as people stand around the Armada table... this game is *almost* as much fun to watch as it is to play, so I'm glad you at least got to see some ships moved around.

I don't have to go anywhere near as far out of my way to get to tournaments. Your dedication is legendary or, at least impressive... most impressive.

You guys search-fu is as weak as your patience in one case, in the other, its not my fault that people edit their replies.

Rough to figure those possibilities, im sure.

Keap atakking mi speleng. Its soe rellivint.

Wah!

And now we're officially blaming our straw man on other people editing their comments.

We're really scraping the bottom of the internet cliche barrel.

EDIT: Three pages of bickering. I'm disappointed in us. I'm gonna go do something productive with my time while I continue to wait for updated MoV (Please be by this weekend FFG, I have a league and a tourney to score)

Wah!

Ah, yes my search fu is indeed weak. Silly me for hitting copy and paste from your misspelled version of the word. For the record, that would be the first time pointing out your spelling mistakes.

Whats also funny is all the likes my posts are getting while you all keep whining at me.

Thanks peeps!

Oh, hey, far be it from me to refuse to admit when I'm wrong.

Brikhause did indeed state once that "it is rather incompetent of them". I confess, I was confused by the misspelling in quotations, and assumed that any initial remark you quoted must have been equally misspelled.

So, quote away I suppose.

That will never be as funny as someone online being genuinely excited about collecting internet points.

Let me be clear on my use of the word incompetent in referring to FFG. I was not saying that FFG is incompetent, only them not having an updated tournament margin posted by now is a singular act of incompetence. I think we can all agree that overall we are very happy of the service that FFG provides. It is the unusual oversight of this particular thing that boggles the mind and frustrates me. Hence again why I started this thread in hopes that FFG remedies it.

Based on how FFG has run X-Wing releases over the past few years, they generally release a new FAQ in advance of the new tournament season. They also have never (at least to my recollection) FAQ'd something before it's actually available - thus no news on Rieekan. Even with things that caused massive nerdrage on the X-Wing forums and a near blitz of emails to the designers asking for clarification. The word on the street from the the distributors that I've seen comment is the winter tournament kits are targeted for January through March, so I'm sure they'll release something soon.

As for news updates, based on a comment during the last Worlds directly from the FFG employee running the Twitch feed when I asked about it, every FFG press release/news story/product announcement needs to be signed off by LFL before FFG can post it. It was driving FFG crazy because they're ready and eager to talk more about Wave 8 of X-Wing and had to sit on everything pending final approval. With the street date of the movie getting close, I'd guess that LFL is being overloaded with last minute product annoucements and that FFG isn't all that big a player in the grand scheme of companies asking for product releases... but hey, that's just my own guess.
