OK FFG!! Where is the updated FAQ and new Margins

By Brikhause, in Star Wars: Armada

I am beginning to get seriously frustrated that at the very least a new tournament margin chart has not been posted. Considering we have had Wave 2 for more than a week, and it arrived later than FFG expected they should already had this up by now. I also don't understand why we cannot get at least a more updated FAQ to.

In my area we are organizing two tournaments in the next two weekends, and also kicking off a 5 week league next weekend. It is irritating not having the proper info to run these thing appropriately.

Bump this if you want to see FFG post at least a tournament margin chart tonight.

They don't usually post articles on Weekends.

They posted one on Friday about X-wing. I thought I have seen them post plenty of things on Saturdays. Honestly Not sure about Sunday though.

And still my point stands!!

Ok well can we still get them to post something Monday. As far as I am concerned they have already dropped the ball on this!!

Yeah I kinda agree with op. The margins at least, should already be done. I can understand holding out a FAQ to see what issues the playerbase finds, but post the margins for us.

Is there any guarantee that they will actually change the MOV? The FAQ will always be updated in good time.

The tournament rule book states this.

When Wave 2 is released, the official fleet size will increase to 400 points, the round time will increase to 150 minutes, and the Margin of Victory table will be updated. This is the culmination of the Armada tournament format, and will remain the standard from that point on.
In my are are we have been using this:
0-27: 5-5

28-66: 6-4

67-120: 7-3

121-200: 8-2

201-293: 9-1

294+: 10-0

Its the 300 point MOV multiplied x 1.33

Hopefully they'll FAQ Akbar, clearly the additional 2 red dice was a misprint, it should be 3 ;)

I dont see what theee is to get so uppity about.

If you run a tourney...figure it out yourself until something official comes out

Simple? Geez, entitlement.

I'd probably just run it with the existing rules. Why make something up when there is something already in place?

Those Margins seriously screw the tournament points At 400pt games.

Because I would like it implemented into tournament software like Cryodex to make it easier and faster to compute the games and rounds. When it is easier things run smoother, people have more incentive to run tournaments, more organized events means more return on investment to players purchasing the models, which means more interest, which means it grows the community more. You see the details matter and FFG has dropped the ball on it thus far.

Getting "frustrated" at FFG for lack of new FAQ and updated tourney parameters is like showing up at a party, bringing nothing yourself, but getting frustrated that they dont have salt and vinegar chips for you to eat.

They supply everyone with something fun to do.

Not everyone who participates likes or needs what you want.

You can easily provide it yourself adding to everyones party.

Sorry, but not an accurate comparison usually parties are free so you can't be choosy if that is the case.. When a company sells a product, creates official tournament rules for that product, and gives out official tournament kits as prize support they should maintain their rulings appropriately as they promise. It gives participants the warm fuzzy that they are in good hand investing in a product. Even casual games (which I enjoy also). It is nice to add up the points and see how a game would have panned out in a competitive setting. It is also nice to have for league play to. Now in my area our player base loves the tournament scene, and has been licking their chops for the next couple of weekends. It would be disappointing if we are in the day of tournament, and ffg still has not updated their margins at the very least, something that would be a quick and easy fix. It is rather incompetent of them.

The game is complete and easily played cassually.

Your tourney rules and FAQ are gravy. Be happy they provide them at all.

...many gaming companies dont.

Think about that next time you call them incompetant. (An absurd descriptor when applied to FFG when it comes to gaming)

I would agree that this update should have been released with the "Shields Up!" article. FFG knew that as soon as that article was released all tournaments go up to 400 pts in accordance with their own information.. It is not a huge deal and can easily be worked around but it still should have been handled.

On the flip side though FFG customer support is amazing and I am sure they could provide you with the official point spread if you ask.

This has been a constant source of disappointment for myself and other players locally.

Honestly, how long can it possibly take FFG to work up an MoV chart for 400 pts? Numerous player groups have done as much in an afternoon! What we need is an official one!

I mean, they knew the game was going to 400 pts MONTHS ago... they knew MoV was changing MONTHS ago... are we saying they simply haven't bothered to take the half hour required to bang out a table for us in all that time? The notion is absurd.

I was hoping it'd be released prior to the release of Wave 2, given how many tournaments would be going off immediately but NOPE. Well... soon after, I figured. Not so much. Here we sit, a full week into Wave Two's release, with no way to officially score a 400 pt tournament!

Hell, I have one of the Winter tourney kits sitting on my desk. Somehow they managed to make THOSE but couldn't release a pdf with a simple scoring rubric?

This is just stupid, FFG. It'd be one thing if creating the MoV chart were time consuming... but it's not.

I dont see what theee is to get so uppity about.

Entitlement to have a product we support be supported in turn?

Why, the gall of some people!

We're tired of "figuring it out".

We've faked it already, several times.

It'd be super if someone at FFG could be bothered to spend 20 minutes on a calculator to throw us a freaking bone.

Yeah, normally I'm frustrated by gamer's complaining and entitlement...but in this case, by taking on the responsibility for organizing tournaments FFG has shouldered the responsibility for doing so in a prompt and complete manner. If they want to post "tournament rules" for alternate play or in-house events, that's one thing, but organizing store play, league play and creating a tournament scene requires dedication from the company, because it requires dedication from the players.

This is one area where it is valid for gamers to complain about not being given something, because FFG has created an expectation by accepting the responsibility for providing the resources to run a tournament. Unlike casual games, tournaments run on the expectation of fairness, universally regulated events and standardized rules. If every venue is running tournaments with different rules and MOVs, then you as a tournament facilitator are not doing your job properly.

Thank you gentlemen. This is exactly why I wanted to make this thread to hopefully light a fire under FFG's arse, and let them know we are waiting!

Normally I would advise patience since FFG is such a good company. However, with all the delays with wave 2, I would have thought at least the tournament guide would have been updated the second wave 2 was official. Instead, it continues to feel like Armada is the red-headed stepchild. We don't even have official rules for the contain token. Come on FFG. You're better than this.

Ffg get on your stuff and fix it.

I'm not sure who you're trying to impress, bud.

Maybe you found all your Armada models in a dumpster behind your FLGS, but most of us here paid for them, and the tournament kits, for that matter.

EDIT: I should add for clarity, some of us work very hard on building our local communities. Some of us organize tournaments and leagues to build the popularity of the game. Some of us have 15+ players at every tourney, each of them hoping for a fair and consistent scoring framework that FFG has made it impossible for us to give them thus far.

But I guess you can go ahead casting aspersions to your heart's content.

Not trying to impress anyone.

Tourney scene here in Dallas is rolling along just fine along with the casual play.

Maybe we are just a bit more grown up about the whole thing.

Oh, you paid for your toy spaceships, well in the light of THAT major seriousness....

Hahaha.
