Latts and the Fives

By Democratus, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Took this list out Friday night and won 3 matches. I'm not sure if it is good for anything other than casual play, but it was a lot of fun.

LATTS AND THE FIVES
Latts Razzi (Gunner) + 2 Black Sun Aces (Glittercrack)
100 points
PILOTS
Latts Razzi (48)
YV-666 (33), Bossk (2), K4 Security Droid (3), Gunner (5), Inertial Dampeners (1), Engine Upgrade (4)
Black Sun Ace (26) x 2
Kihraxz Fighter (23), Crack Shot (1), Glitterstim (2)
I like the flexibility granted by having the same PS for all the ships. Saves me from collisions in a tight dogfight. But since it is mid-level PS you must do a lot of predictive movement.
The combination of Bossk and Gunner was much better than I had anticipated. And when I purge the stress next turn by doing a green maneuver, K4 gives me another target lock.
Comments, tweaks, and criticism is welcome.

Why would you want Inertial Dampeners? Can't the 666 already do that 0 maneuver?

So you can do it on the fly if needed. Something ends up right in front of you and you would bump, pop the dampeners and sit at range one

It's also useful in case you need to stand still twice in a row.

This is the exact list I posted up a week or two ago (minus the Dampeners for a 1 point initiative bid as it's for a team tournament this coming weekend where things like that matter). I've been playing a few games with it over the past few weeks and it's surprisingly effective, especially against aces. The key is to make sure you get your target in all 3 arcs at once, if you have to spread fire you're in trouble.

Cool! Didn't mean to post a duplicate of someone else's list.

I agree about getting multiple arcs on a single target. Fortunately the arc on Latts is big enough so that you really only need worry about the fighters.

I haven't fought Soontir with this yet. That little guy just might be able to avoid the PS 5 fighters for the whole game. Being able to boost+roll last does tend to make it difficult to pin an ace down.

Haha, no worries. I'm sure I'm not the first to come up with this either. I just found it amusing it was so soon after. :)

Soontir is potentially tricky. I've fought him a couple of times, and on one occasion he got behind Latts, but fortunately he can't go slow and follow for long, especially when your opponent forgets the 0 stop and crashes into the back of you, leaving an Ace to one-shot him with Crack Shot. ;) I've generally left him to last as even with your tricks he's so hard to hit when the Emperor is on the table (as he was in those games).
