Bomber fun?

By spamdex, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I haven't got enough bombers to try this but could be quite devastating, do you think it could hold its own? If so I may buy them and try it out

It might work, but I would not give jonus any munitions apart from maybe bombs and Tracers. The Tracers are more reliable with his reroll behind them and you definitly want them to go of, so the more there are, the better.

I would make this in the spirit of your list. I personaly miss some Seismic Charges guarding my rear, but it seems pretty cool. This is not going to be a tournament list, though. If thats fine by you go ahead, Bombers are one of the most fun ships in the game!

Here are some more lists with 4 Bombers at their core:

It held up against an onslaught of Fat Hans and Phantoms then, so it is still going to be competetive now. Requires a lot of purchases, though, since it includes 4 Proximity Mines! The trick is to put the mines right on to the ships you want to hit, not just anywhere on the field, that makes them a lot more scary. The Doomshuttle is always good.

If you already have some Bombers you could run one or two of these on their own in a list that is not all out spam to get a feel for them and see if you like Bombers. This version does not yet include any Tracers and i don't quite see how one could do so conveniently. Giving three Bombers Tracers and then dropping one to a Conner Net carrier might do the trick. Or maybe swap the last Bomber for a TIE Advanced with AC and Tracers.

If you go ahead and get yourself four TIE Bombers be aware that this is not an investment into being competetive at all, that sadly is the reality of things. Taking Bombers into a tournament takes some serious balls, but can be very rewarding. It is however a very solid investment into fun. Master something very few people are brave enough to try, give your opponents an experience they probably didn't have befor, since Bombers are so seriously (and undeservingly) underplayed. It is a great ship for casual play and to force yourself to think outside of the box.

the chadwick bomber,

Scimitar

*homing missiles

*munitions

*seismic charges

[25]

is actually an incredibly potent force that can defeat aggressors (and aggressors are a pretty **** good standard to beat)

just slap four of them in a list and have fun

I'm personally waiting for Omega Leader to take the place of the fourth bomber, as it'll add some nice PS and late game force

I already advertised that :P

Still haven't tried it out, though, can't wait to do so, but I am somewhat buisy with university right now, so I haven't had a game in a month now. Getting withdrawal syndroms...

I had an amazing fight using Major Rhymer with seismic charge and advanced proton torpedo.

I've played this several times,

Captain Jonus — TIE Bomber 22

Extra Munitions 2

Ion Pulse Missiles 3

Munitions Failsafe 1

Ship Total: 28

Scimitar Squadron Pilot — TIE Bomber 16

Plasma Torpedoes 3

Extra Munitions 2

Cluster Missiles 4

Ship Total: 25

Scimitar Squadron Pilot — TIE Bomber 16

Plasma Torpedoes 3

Extra Munitions 2

Cluster Missiles 4

Ship Total: 25

Tempest Squadron Pilot — TIE Advanced 21

Advanced Targeting Computer 1

TIE/x1 0

Ship Total: 22

My take on it competitively is that you'll lose bombers fast. Sometimes before they get to shoot back. If that doesn't happen a list like this will destroy your opponent. If it does happen and it's Jonus and the Advanced vs. 100 points or so, it's very uphill.

It's a lot of fun though and can do quite a lot of damage if you can live long enough to let loose some salvos.
