Horton Eaden Blue

By JerithFtU, in X-Wing Squad Lists

A list I thought was cool cause it used Eaden Vrill

(33) Horton Salm/ TLT/ R3A2/ BTL-A4

(41) Eaden Vrill/ HLC/ Tactician

(25) Blue Squadron/ Bwing E2/ Tactician

Horton stresshog is a given for Vrill, but Im not sure if there is anyone better than the Blue Squadron for that last spot.

Any Thoughts?

In any case this list is extremely fun to play. That 4 dice at range 2-3 out the front, then a 4 dice turret at range 1 if they are stressed. So good

Vrill ability only apply to primary weapon, so i will drop HLC for a Dagger B-Wing. He will shot before Vrill, so he can apply stress for Vrill attack.

I was playing around with a similar list, two daggers w/ Ions and Tacticians, and Vrill.

For sure upgrade the Blue to a Dagger. And drop the HLC. I'd also pull the title from Horton - sure it's nice to get the double stress from one guy, but with the Dagger and Horton providing stress, no need to double up, and the turret loss is huge, especially if he sticks around for awhile. Though I suppose if you played him aggressively, he wouldn't necessarily live long enough to really make use of it.

With those 5 points remaining, I would seriously consider adding an Ion Cannon to the Dagger. I know it sounds a bit stupid, but it works great against the regening Corrans, and the hard to hit anyways Fels out there. It couples great with stress as well since it prevents it from being cleared, meaning they're actionless and Vrill can swoop in easily for the 4 dice death trap.

The other option is to add Luke to Vrill. This is what I did in my successful build. At first it sounds kind of stupid, but when you realize it provides you with a modifier that you previously didn't have (no FCS or Predator or PTL, so you get your one action and that's it), and how that opens the door for you to play Vrill as a blocker, or use his BR to get behind someone, it greatly increases his survivability while also increasing his damage. Plus, no high agility player (who you'll struggle to hit as it is) likes to face gunner, nevertheless Luke.

I like the sound of luke. That was one of the problems I found with vrill was the lack of modifiers. Awesome, thanks guys
