Looking for Wave 2 storage solution

By chemnitz, in Star Wars: Armada

I've been looking at tackle boxes and tool boxes to store my Armada collection, and I thought that I'd check to see if someone else has come up with a great Wave 2 storage solution. I have 2-3 copies of everyone from Waves 1 and 2, and I'd like to have a little room to grow. Any suggestions? In particular, what have you found that can accommodate the large-base ships? Thanks.

I'm using a camera equipment case for my X-wing epic ships + Houndstooth since it won't fit in the plano plastic stuff.

I'm using a 2nd one with the extra dividers from the first one for Armada stuff:

Room for more. For the tokens I'm using plastic plano boxes. I've still got all the fighter squadrons in the Armada box, haven't assembled them yet.

Comes with pluck foam and dividers. I'm using the Pluck foam for X-wing stuff, but for Armada I just wedge the Star Destroyers into the compartments I set up and they seem secure enough.

Pier 1 imports has something similar size for 10 bucks less, but after seeing it in person, it looked kind of cheap and crappy in comparison.

For the cards I'm using a Z binder from staples with the plastic card pages:

I swear I remember getting it for less when I went in to the local staples and had them order me one with free shipping to my house, maybe it was on sale. Either way, they come in several colors, I got the black one because Imperial.

In case you care about X-wing:

I'm a handy guy, so I've got a pluck foam Harbor Freight toolbox modified a bit.

You should be able to search the forums for that info.

i have extra battlefoam bags from other games and extra foam. i was able to fit my squadrons and medium and small ships in foam and the bigger stuff live VICs, AFs, ISDs are in their origial plastic shells stacked on the second half of the bag. its pretty full and tight but nothing has pressure on it that can bend like antennas and stuff.

If you dont mind spending money. wait a few weeks im sure Battlefoam, feldherr and KR will have custom cut foam for the wave 2 stuff which is usually the best option to guarantee safety, just expensive.

Got the boxes from a local craft store. Foam I had laying around. Cut it out. And fits wonderfully. Can have two more layers in it as well. I have one for imps. Rebels. And one for all my bits tokens, ship docks, cards, etc

Really can't recommend the Stanley Click and Connect box enough. You can add onto the storage with each wave. I currently have the main box and 2 "click on" organizers and have all of wave 1 and 2 stored, which is the following:

2 core sets (not storing all the fighters)

1 Victory

1 CR-90

1 Nebulon

2 AF-MK2

2 Gladiators

2 Imperial Squads

2 Rebel Squads

1 ISD

1 MC80

2 MC30

2 Raiders

1 Rogues and Villains (another coming)

I don't have foam packed around the ships yet, but there's room, or room for Willibalds tuckboxes, which I've made a few of. I highly recommend this case.

Have any pics of your setup? I'm currently looking for a good storage/transport system for X-Wing and Armada and I'm also using Willibalds tuck boxes.

Here's a couple pics. Haven't completely got wave 2 put in how I want but you can get the idea. Also need to protect the ships before I travel with it.

Man, this thread is making me realize how awful my "Stack all my ships on top of one another and hope nothing breaks" method is.

Thanks man! I may have to pick up a set of these for X-Wing and Armada.

My starter box full of ships reminds me of the old "Unblock the car" games as I try to fit everything in, fighters tumbling all over each other.

This was the best solution I could come up with. I still need to put masking tape on the peg bags to label them, I would like to find a way to prevent the cardboard ship cards from sliding around *not that they move a lot* and I want to put in foam for the ISD's and Vic's.But as of now it works and when I open it up I don't have things jumbled all over the place.

I don't have a link for the 2 tray mini storage box but I think it was 3 or 4 bucks at Walmart. it fits perfectly in the tool box and doesn't slide around so it's a great divider. Plus, I was really surprised it could hold as much stuff that I put in there.

I'm using the Stanley click and connect as well and I like it. You can store fighter squadrons on their stands, and it's very roomy all around, with adjustable dividers and the main compartment is very large. so far plenty of room for wave 1 and 2 using 1 extra of the bottom compartments, one rebel and one for imperial ships.

KR multicase although their wave 2 stuff has not been launched yet. A tad pricey compared to some of the homemade solutions but worth it in my view as i am lazy and like the uniformity of their boxes.
