Ion tokens

By Darth broseph, in X-Wing Rules Questions

What is the point of two ion tokens if you remove both at the end of the turn?

Large ships need two tokens to feel the effects of ionization. Also, if a large ship gets one ion token, it keeps it until it gets a second one. Then it's ionized and does thd one straight.

And you never remove ion tokens at the end of a round. All ion tokens get removed immediately after the ship they are on performs the mandatory ion maneuver and at no other time.

Thank you guys

So, if I had a Bomber with 4 ion tokens after he moves they ALL go away? or just one at a time. A friend likes to hit me with those a lot and he said they large ships get rid of all but small ships is only one per move.

They all go away at once.

The difference between large and small base is only in the number of Ion tokens required to force the ionization.

agreed large ship need 2 to get ionized the all go away after effect is been executed. with large ships with 1 ion that will stay untill it gets a second then it will get ionized and they are removed.

To reiterate

ALL ion tokens on a given ship go away after the ship performs the 1-straight ion move.

Large ships don't perform that move until they have 2 ion tokens at the start of the round

Ion tokens stay on a ship and are ONLY removed when it performs that ion movement, not at any other time.

Your friend is somewhat confused with the stress tokens I think. Stress tokens get removed 1 at a time, regardless of the size of the ship, but Ion tokens are different. The Ion Token rules state:

Activation Phase: The owner moves the ship as if it were assigned a white [straight 1] maneuver. After executing this maneuver, remove all ion tokens from the ship. It may perform actions as normal.
