Its not exactly like education was ever about education anyway. It was a way to get minimally acceptable workers in the industrial revolution and get the government to pay for the training. We have continued the concept and somewhere along the way, because it was called education, many people thought that this was about learning how to be an independent thinker. One path does not lead to the other.
