So: Reinforced Deflectors...a missed guess as to where the meta would be? Or something new coming?

By xanderf, in X-Wing

I think more 4 die attack ships are coming, so I guess this makes sense for the 0 agility Ghost. Still, not sure it will benefit from it at least every other turn.

Inquisitor's Tie with Advanced Targeting Computer ;)

and how will it get that? They can't equip the TIE/x1 title.

How do you figure that? Are you trying to say that Adv. doesn't mean Advanced?

It's explicitly ruled in the TFA-set rules that ship types MUST contain the entirety of the type.

|TIE Advanced|

|TIE| Adv. Prototype

Not enough commonality for a "TIE Advanced only" title to be equippable. Only printed letters count, it doesn't matter if you could, linguistically, unpack "Adv." to "Advanced", the text is not physically on the card.

Or at least that the faq entry is meaningless!

What's this then?

The rules don't say anything about packing or abbreviations.

I have been pondering this as well, and then I realized that there is another perk to this upgrade: it recovers a *shield*. On a ship with no agility in which you sank a ton of points, the ability to potentially stop a crit could be huge (if on the following attack, someone were to just hit you with a crit).

Yeah, I would want to put it on all of my shuttles if I didn't need Engine Upgrade to make them viable. And since I won't buy the Ghost just for the upgrade for my Decimator, the price of the upgrade should be doubled. Rebel scum.

Rebel ships always come with upgrade cards that Imps need, what is the dealio, FFG?

Rebel pilots also have some abilities to push through a crit. Like that B-wing Pilot that can autocrit with Mangler cannon with no defense allowed!

The inverse also happens. All factions benefit from upgrades not in their own packs.

Except that Enhanced Deflectors is a System upgrade, not a Modification.

And the Ghost (Rebels), is basically the only ship that sees any benefit from this upgrade (much prefer SJ on the Palpmobile; the other shuttles already have their slots taken by AS/FCS)

I missed that, bud god ****!

I don't want to pay 80 bucks to upgrade my two shuttles!

Maybe I can trick my bro into buying one, but he's not keen on Rebels.

Then don't. It isn't exactly a must have upgrade.

Well depending on the dial EU might still be the default modification.

The weird thing about this upgrade, if nobody's mentioned it, is that in many cases it will actually increase the defense of 3-ATT ships firing on the Reinforced Deflectors.

Why?

Because unless you're pushing a crit through, or outright destroying the ship, there will be many cases you do not want to spend a focus token on the attack.

The absolute worst damage you can get against this upgrade is [hit][hit][hit], because in exchange for that hull point, the ship just got a shield point back. If you roll [hit][hit][focus], it's actually a bad thing to spend a focus token. So you have it to spend on defense. (Yay?)

Very odd upgrade.

Well, either way it stops you from taking a third point of damage.

Also, you get the shield back after damage, right? So if they can finish off your hull, they'll use the focus. So yeah, this card might be ****.

In games of Epic, it might see some use when you're taking a mad charge at a capital ship.

I really don't see much use for this card tbh, because it's so circumstantial.

Assuming the meta doesn't change radically post wave 8, the only competitive build against which this card shines is Brobots with dual HLC.

Most other competitive lists have either an abundance of TLTs (vs. which the card does nithing) or aces (which probably don't want to stand at range 1 of a 4 dice primary, and even with TL or Focus, 2 hits is way more common at range 2-3 than 3 hits).

Meanwhile, Sensor Jammer (same slot, 1 more point), is always doing something, vs. any list.

Oh come on, please, tell us how many boxes included the Predator EPT we all love?

Where do we get our Sensor Jammers and Fire Control Systems from?

Where did everyone have to get Stealth devices?

Tacticians we all adore?

Intimidation?

Opportunist?

DEM PROTON BOMBZ

Tactical jammers, Anti-pursuit lazors we use in the Epic so much?

Imperials have upgrades rebels and TEH GLORIOUS MERCENARY SPACE PIRATE faction needs.

Filthy imperial scum!

Imperials have upgrades that let you fly swarms, upgrades that let you get free tokens, alternate your path and even make you don't care about not taking focus everytime!

Filthy imperial scum xD
