Advanced Targeting Computer

By Riddick84, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Just wanted to post and make 100% certain this was the case.

Advanced Targeting Computer.

This goes on either

1. A pilot like Darth Vader who has Targeting Computer

or

2. Say a Tempest Pilot where you spend your Modification slot to get Targeting Computer

However, slapping an Advanced Targeting Computer on a TIE advanced doesn't automatically give it "regular" Targeting Computer.

Correct?

The TIE Advanced doesn't need Targeting Computer. It already has the Target Lock action. So no, you don't need to equip Targeting Computer to any of the TIE Advanced pilots.

To be more concise, the TIE Advanced doesn't need to use the Targeting Computer modification as noted. The reason being that it already has the Target Lock option on the action bar. One could use Targeting Computer modification on a ship card that doesn't have the Target Lock action. Using Targeting Computer on a TIE/Ad would just be a waste of 2 points and not give any added benefit.

The Advanced Targeting Computer system card, usable on any TIE Advanced with the TIE/X1 title card works when you make use of the Target lock action, or have some other way of getting a Target Lock on the enemy ship that you are attacking.

Make sense?

Yep, makes sense. Thanks much for pointing out the TIE Advance already come with Target Lock... that just slipped right on by me!

Mostly because I have rarely played the TIE Advanced and haven't seriously considered it until the Imperial Raider cards made them MathWing delicious!

Thanks for the help, both on this question and all the questions I follow along and read!
