Bravo Design

By Hida77, in X-Wing

After seeing the Ghost and Phantom preview part 1, I just wanted to take a quick second to stop and thank the FFG design and playtest teams for constantly delivering new, innovative ships and upgrades to X-Wing.

With the Ghost we have a new twin-arc ship, that seems like a Decimator stats-wise, but then having a docking ship and some mean crew. Basically it is in a class all its own. Which is saying a lot, given that we are now 8 + a few psuedo waves into the game. On top of that, it stays fluffy.

Thank you a ton FFG, seriously. You guys are doing a GREAT job with this game. People want more previews so badly just to see what new and interesting stuff will be coming soon. And we are rarely disappointed.

Bravo again, keep it up!

it still has every chance to devolve into an unusable gimmick

very promising so far, however

Maybe, but you aren't trying if you aren't failing here and there. At least we have the peace of mind it will eventually get fixed and be a beast one day if that were the case. =)

we have to wait for part 2 of the Preview then.

"eventually" is far too generous a term given ffg's time table :P

rather it just be great on release, which seems to be the case. Even if the Ghost + Phantom title proves to be prohibitively expensive and frail, the individual ships seem fine

I can't wait to see what kind of nerf this Phantom gets XP

we have to wait for part 2 of the Preview then.

I have trouble believing anything in part 2 could turn what seems like a great ship into a dud.

Enhanced Deflectors helps a lot, imo. It's just going to play more like a Firespray than a Falcon, which may put people off.

we still don't know how the bombs fit on there as there is no bomb slot, but comes with two bombs...

maybe probably a crew that give bomb slots.

If only there were a cast member of the show who really likes explosives...

that's with a docked Phantom

without, it's going to play like an Aggressor ate an actual (tie) Phantom and just sat on its ass eating ice cream for a few years

I do hope they have the dial next preview. Hera's ability is very dependent on it.

Anyone planning on buying more than one of these? I hope not... Just seems wrong.

And since this isn't worthy of its own thread but just in case you had not seen it yet. (probably really old but I just ran across recently) Happy Friday afternoon!

it really depends on the dial, but for 40 points coming with its own essentially built-in-HLC + PS 7 + system slot + 2 crew, it's not bad at all

the dial's probably gonna heave, though

We will see. I think Hera hints at some interesting color distributions.

I'm hoping for green T-rolls!

But I'm expecting Albino Space Cow on Valium.

I'm visualizing a dial with lots of blank space between maneuvers. Like the K-wing.

Only these will be multi-colored.

I've never watched the show either

except the scene where Vader solos 12 A-wings and a bigger-than-cr90

Ghost couldn't do **** about him :P

jut going by gameplay terms, ghost is large and really fat and is probably going to move that way to reflect it.

but unless theres another Article mistake it has at the VERY LEAST a 4 straight. it also should be noted that the fancy new system doesnt protect from TLT's

you know what else has a 4 green straight? Tie defender :P

the new system is interesting, very anti-HLC, but I think I prefer jammers

It's either jammers for flavor or fire control system because it's just so good

My biggest point of curiosity is, with a Ghost and docked Phantom coming in at ~60 points naked, is this going to create an effective 1-ship archetype? Can you load it out with ~40 points of useful upgrades without getting uselessly bloated, and thus potentially fly an entire game by setting only 1 dial, and still have a viable winning list?

I'm going to buy 3. One for me and one for each of my kids =D. Parenting ftw
