Imperial Avenger Fleet: 400pt

By Blacksyte, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So here is my latest refined build. I've played 2 ISD IIs before, but thought I'd try to get more bang out of the upgrades. Kept in the Raider for the activation and fighter screen. Thoughts?

Faction: Galactic Empire
Points: 396/400

Commander: Admiral Screed

Assault Objective: Most Wanted
Defense Objective: Fire Lanes
Navigation Objective: Dangerous Territory

Imperial II-Class Star Destroyer (120 points)
- Gunnery Team ( 7 points)
- Phylon Q7 Tractor Beams ( 6 points)
- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)
- Overload Pulse ( 8 points)

[ flagship ] Imperial I-Class Star Destroyer (110 points)
- Admiral Screed ( 26 points)
- Avenger ( 5 points)
- Captain Needa ( 2 points)
- Gunnery Team ( 7 points)
- Phylon Q7 Tractor Beams ( 6 points)
- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)

Raider-I Class Corvette (44 points)
- Impetuous ( 4 points)
- Ordnance Experts ( 4 points)
- Assault Proton Torpedoes ( 5 points)

2 TIE Fighter Squadrons ( 16 points)
1 TIE Advanced Squadron ( 12 points)

I've struggled with the overload pulse based fleets I've used. I think having 2 overload pulses will be a huge boost to the fleets effectiveness. When you have just one it makes your activation order a lot more predictable, and when that ship is gone things might be more difficult if that was the lynchpin of your plan

I like that the 2 ISDs are similar in points, even though one has several more upgrades attached.

I was going to say to swap the TRC for an ECM on the flagship, but now I can see the reasoning for not doing so. It hits like a brick, and can take a few big hits. If you've got adequate repair commands it can probably take the damage for a bit. That's the biggest weakness I see.

You might have some trouble versus carrier supported bombers, but if you don't see much of that locally, that it should be ok. I've ran something similar where my 3 squadrons just stalled the bombers for a turn while my ships blew up the carriers and ended the game that way.

Recently I've started using an even number of squadrons due to the way deployment works. Having that 3rd one doesn't net you much during deployment since that last one has to wait all the way to the end. Unless you have a compelling reason for having 3, you might consider taking an even number.

Thanks for the feedback!

I hear you on taking more OP. I'll see if I can swing it. I've played with the Raider having OP and it worked pretty well. Just wanted to see what other combos I could come up with.

As for the whole TRC Vs ECM, IMP I's can't take ECM, they don't have the defense slot for them. Also the whole point of Needa on that ship is to get the evade token to make TRC work. That said the plan is to check enemy ships with ISD II/Raider OP and then use Avenger to just tear them up.

Even number of fighers is a good call. I'll see what I can do.

Well derp... Shows you how often I use the ISD-1!

Avenger on ISD-1 seems misguided. You need to move into black range one turn, then be there the next turn to fire. But you'll have to activate a different ship first to get the OP off, then activate the ISD-1. Nobody is going to sit there and let that happen, unless you run interference with your raider to try to block them in with a bump.

You might want to rethink your mmost wanted card. As a vette swarm of 8 vettes is tossing 16 red out the front and with ackbar that becomes 24 red out the side. So on turn to you might take two vettes. but that still 6 vettes tossing 2 red each plus 1 for the most wanted. So you looking at 18 red vs A isd if you make it your most wanted ship.

Would almost suggest putting screed on the raider and making it your most wanted ship and playing hide the raider to keep it alive

I wouldn't run double ISD without Motti IMO. He just gives them so much.

I would also probably run 3 ships, 2x ISD (II and I) with a Raider-I in the mix. You need the activations and a ship that can block retreat paths so your ISDs can get in there and do the heavy lifting.
