Smuggling Profitability Index

By Kyla, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hey all. So, I made this spreadsheet to help keep my mind wrapped around how many credits my PCs were standing to gain from my adventures. I though that you might find it useful too.

It has every planet in the Essential Atlas, as well as those that were included in some of the adventures (like Spintir). The Data tab isn't locked, so you can add ships and planets as things go on. You'll just need to add coordinates from the Essential Atlas to them to enable the calculation.

Hope it helps!

Nice! I like this! Definitely something I will use in my games.

Looks awesome, but I need to change the width of some of the columns on the first page in order to display some of the ships... Any chance of widening the columns such that they don't overlap? Specifically the Craft Name and Segment Profit columns.

er.... forgive me for being thick.... can i get a manual please?

Made the mods - you should now be able to sort or re-size however you wish. The link has been updated to the new functionality.

No worries~ I'm working on an Instructions tab, in the meantime, the run down is this;

Each time the ship lands, a new segment of the overall run is recorded. You can use this to determine the amount of food and supplies used in that segment, and the running total of cost in the last column will denote the net gain/loss from the entire trip.

0. Enter the segment of this run - it's just a number indicating the leg of the journey and has no effect.

1. Select the Ship type being used (or if your party has made modifications, you can add a new line on the data tables tab for that ship). This allows the sheet to pull data on the ship's information for other fields.

1a. If you have only one cargo load on board, then you only select your Ship

1b. If you are carrying different kinds of cargo, such as both Illicit Materials and Minerals, then select your ship for the first line, and "Additional Cargo" for the second.

2. Enter the number of Crew and Passengers on the leg of the journey as well the rationing. This will help determine food and water used during the trip.

2a. Crew and Passengers - the number of people consuming rations - droids don't count

2b. Rationing - are you over-eating/hosting parties/celebrating? (Celebratory) Are you Specifically cutting down on rationing for fear of running out? (Emergency/Survival) or is pretty standard? (Normal). These are listed from most reckless (Celebratory) to most rationed (Survival) and is used to calculate the daily use of food and water.

3. Cargo is where you list what you're carrying. Each type of cargo or different negotiated cost needs it's own line. For special cases, you can always use the "Custom" option, but you will need to then enter your negotiated price to get the proper sale value. Other items have defaulted average sale prices.

3a. If you have multiple types, create a new line using "Additional Cargo Type" for the subsequent cargo types in the "Ship" column - this will allow the spreadsheet to ignore these lines as a segment of the trip.

4. Encumbrance loaded and sold. Here you enter how many actual Encumbrance units in the ship are taken up by that cargo, and it will spit out your remaining cargo space. If you enter a units sold, then it will also factor out the profit gained through the sale of those items versus the various costs of the segment of the journey.

5. Starting Port and Ending Port are the planets where you began and ended that segment of the journey. So if you flew from Alderaan to Tatooine, with a quick stop at Nar Shadaa, then you would have two segments - Alderaan to Nar Shadaa, then Nar Shadaa to Tatooine.

6. Speed Used is the type of propulsion you used - where you stuck using your hyperdrive backup? Was it a sublight speed journey? Your drive class will populate off of this and it is used along with the Starting/Ending Ports to calculate the base for how long the journey took in hours.

6a. If Sublight speed was used, you'll need to log how far the journey was. The drop down is the limit of realistic sublight journeys - any farther and you wouldn't make in a lifetime without a hyperdrive.

7. Advantages and Triumphs used are fields to enter the number of dice results used to lower the travel time on the Astrogation roll. These are then used along with the base travel time to determine the final travel time and thus fuel cell cost of the trip.

8. Days in Port - this final field is the number of days you stayed at the Ending Port's starport (if any). It determines the docking fees, costs and rentals for the starport on a per day basis. If your group landed in a field, then you technically don't need to start a new segment for them, or can simply put a "0" in the days in starport field and it will not charge them for any starport fees at all.

9. Segment Profit is where the final net gain or loss from any segment of a trip is shown. The total trip profit or loss is then calculated from these lines and entered into the Total Smuggling Operation Profit section at the bottom.
