Roll a Triumph on your charm check

That's how I got mine yesterday.

I got about 20 Boost dice just for being a girl! :)

Don't be so proud of your sorcerous ways. They haven't conjured up the stolen plans or showed you where the rebel base is.

Point of fact guys and gals, that attractive and friendly waitress that laughs at your lame jokes and pathetic attempts at hitting in her is doing JUST for the increased gratuity that foolish people leave because the waitress likes them.

Different system, same thing?

Would they be considered "bust" dice then? (I'm sorry.. I couldn't resist.)

Not for me, sorry :( I'd get Setbacks if I relied on that alone...

Ehh, we like to fool around and banter as much as anyone. Our gaming table is mostly gender neutral, to be honest.

Many Bothans died so I could bring you that information on 'Special Modifications'...

You mean it's all fake? Next you'll tell me that the WWE is fake too!

Whaaat?! My FLGS only gives me a single Boost Die for that! How is this fair?

Nexus of Power and Special Modifications should be arriving at the local shop tomorrow, and I intend to pick up both of them. No one every said this would be a cheap hobby.

Oh dear folks at least you can allready buy it in you language...

we poor German Star Wars players have to wait´for a translatet version... maybe until Star Wars VIII - Forcy Islands comes out... or something like that...

so... I´m afraid I´ve to stock my library up with the english ones...and then have to translate them so all my players can understand what I´m talikn about...(at least the crucial parts like equipment, droid building, weapon smithing and so on...) <_<

I'm german too. I've given up on translated prints pretty much immediately after I saw that only Edge and AoG CRBs and 'Enter the Unknown' were available in german.

There are so many more supplements already and I can't wait for Heidelberger to get a move on. :P

I have like 10 Books already including the 3 CRBs and waiting for 6 more from Amazon. Ordered Special Modifications yesterday from the UK :D

Then again, I'm pretty fluent in english and so are most of my players. I just dish out loose translations for them if they need it, and also made them a legend for skill names and such, since we actually use the german character sheets.

If your players have trouble with english you could turn it into an exercise. But I can see how that would be more trouble than what it's worth.

yeah but Heidelberger gave the license over to Ulisses and it took them a lot of time to get that hole buisness on the line.

Well next will be Suns of Forgin and the Corebooks of AoR and FaD

the biggest proble during translations is most likely the "interpretation" part, when the thinks it means something different than me but well luckily I can ask with in the forum here to clarify those things.

*At this Point thanks to everyone who is posting here to help each other*

And now back to Topic:

I´ll get it nexttime I´m in Nürnberg my localsales man normaly gets the english versions pretty fast. (if he doesn´t role a despair....)

Hey, at least German to English is reasonably close. When I was in Berlin a few years ago, I was able to muddle my way through what the hell the signs and products were trying to say despite knowing nothing about the language. Going from English to Japanese or Russian? You are well and truly screwed.

Statistics. Since I've started tracking, every book has been released on a Thursday. Additionally, five out of six books took 16 days to arrive once their status became "Shipping Now," and the sixth book took 9 days. This Thursday will be day 16.

Also, the recent news post "Thank the Maker" said that Special Modifications is now available. Which wasn't quite true, but it does hint that FFG is expecting it to be out rather soon.

Yes, statistics aren't 100%, but I think, based on the history of this line of products, the odds are strongly in favor of a release this Thursday.

Of course I was ;) . I'm never* wrong when I have the power of math on my side!

Prediction for Savage Spirits: if the status changes to "On the Boat" tomorrow, then we're probably looking at May 19 at the earliest. If it doesn't...well then, it'll be even later.

*By assuming that outliers happen, I can wave off any appearance of being wrong by closing outlier. Works every time!

Any statistics on how often new products are announced and if so how over due are we?

It wouldn't be relevant I wouldn't think. This is the first year with all the CRBs out and no screens or beginner games to launch. I don't know how many, but we are going to see more career/source/adventure books this year I'd imagine since they don't have the other stuff to put out.

I feel like we're overdue for an announcement on the next AoR book.

Any statistics on how often new products are announced and if so how over due are we?

Of course we do! Now, we do have to qualify the numbers with what 2P51 mentioned, i.e. that in previous years there were unique things happening (CRBs being released, the dockworker's strike, etc.) that we don't have going right now. Additionally, unlike the book release process, the time between announcements across lines is highly variable, so finding a reasonable metric to measure as "average" is difficult.

Having said that, here are the numbers (as best as I can remember; I don't have my spreadsheets with me at the moment): the mean number of days between new book announcements, across all three lines combined, is ~51 days. So far, we're at 77, which is the 6th longest time between announcements so far, out of 21 (only counting books, not GM screens or beginner's boxes). Keep in mind though, the mean and the place include the 142 days between the EotE CRB being announced and Beyond the Rim being announced, right at the beginning of the product line, which is throwing off the numbers. Also, the longest delay that wasn't one of the three that went over a hundred days was 87; we're about 10 days away from 4th place.

F&D has never gone without an upcoming book; AoR has done so twice, and EotE has done so...four times, I think? The mean amount of time that a single line has gone without an upcoming book is around 60-70-ish days; but for AoR specifically, the line has had one gap of 2-3 days, and one of 45. So with Lead by Example out on 02/04, we've already reached the longest gap without a new AoR book.

Putting it all together, we are, by almost all metrics, overdue for a new AoR announcement; we have another few weeks before we should begin expecting a new EotE announcement (recently they've been 2 weeks from release of a book to announcement of a new one), and we should be hearing about a new F&D book in the next month or so.

The other thing to look at is patterns, to see what we might expect for what kind of book we'll see next.

For EotE, the pattern of book types has been Adventure > Career > Region > Career; So far, F&D has followed the exact same pattern. AoR is the odd man out, having gone Adventure > Career > Career > Region > Career. So for EotE, based ont he pattern, we'd expect the next announcement to be a new region book (I'd put my money on an "Outer Rim" sourcebook, to include Tatooine, and the much begged-for Jawas), and for F&D we should expect a new adventure. For AoR, it depends on whether the double-up on career books was on purpose or a falter, but I think we should see a new adventure for that line, too.

So, yay, statistics! If I have a chance once I'm back to my computer, I'll edit in the real numbers here, but that should be close enough for speculation. Let me know if you have any other maths-based questions!

Now that I've grabbed the book and read through the species section, I have found that it mentions the technical skills of three races are pretty good. Quoting the Besalisk:

"The Besalisks have not heavily developed their homeworld of Ojom, but nonetheless have a natural affinity for working the equipment created by other species." -- p. 19.

"Besalisk technical aptitude is well known among the Slicers and Mechanics of the galaxy. This reputation is especially persuasive in the Outer Rim, and amon those operating in the penumbra between galactic society and the lawless fringe. Besalisks can be a natural fit for engineering hobs that require strength in addition to finesse." -- p. 20

"While their homeworld isn't the most technologically advanced in the galaxy, Besalisks have an aptitude and creativity that makes them well-suited to a wide variety of jobs." -- p. 21

Quoting the Dug:

"The Dugs are technically advanced, but are politically and socially limited by their oppressed status on their homeworld of Malastare." -- p. 20

"Dugs are technologically adept, but often have to adapt the technology of other species to make it useful to their unique physiology. In turn, Dug devices weapons are generally rather difficult for members of other species to use." -- p. 22

"While they can make do with controls built for other species, Dugs quickly adapt any craft they own to their atypical arrangement of arms and legs. Some make a good living in illegal races and gambling. Others work in repair shops, using their acquired knowledge to soup up other beings' ships..." -- p. 24

And the Mustafarians:

"The Mustafarians develop and seek technology to help them survive their environmentally oppressive world. While all species use technology for survival, the Mustafarians seek it out more than most. Some enhance themselves cybernetically just to better carry out common tasks and protect themselves on their harsh world." -- p. 20

"A significant percentage of the population opts to install cybernetics to aid in certain tasks and improve their likelyhood of survival." -- p. 24-25

So, basically, all three are are competent with tech and super adaptive to any technology... which is exactly the kind of things a Technician on the fringe is going to encounter.

But for “technologically adept” species, I don’t think any of them get a species boost to their Intellect, do they?

Seems odd to me….

Seems pretty standard with their often knack for not making these things literal. I've noticed that a species fluff will say they are good at X but they tend to not make it a mechanic.

As for Savage Spirits, my best guess on a release date is May 19, at the earliest. It needs at least 40 days "On the Boat" (I've not seen it take less than six weeks, but i have seen it take longer) and another 16 shipping, which puts us at May 12 by itself. I don't know how long printing normally takes, so add on the printing time to May 12, and then move it to the closest Thursday, and that's your release date.

Presuming a 7 April "On the boat" date.

Don't worry people, I'm sure Jawas will be in the innevitable Tatooine sourcebook that makes its way into EVERY thing Star Wars. Every game, novel, veraion of the RPG, etc. Except for the Force Awakens.. That had Jakku.

Someone send a infiltrator or Bothan to retrieve it....

Many Bothans will die getting it. :P

Us Dutchies work with English books all the time. Our games, however, are strictly ran in Dutch so we are used to translating on the fly...
