Special Modifications! Technician Career Book Announced!

By Dr Lucky, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I was hoping for a new preview but oh well.

They havent done previews for any books as of late. Armada, Rebellion, X-wing, sure - but it's been a while since we got a News Update for the RPG.

Easy there. There hasn't been Armada news since the last Wave hit shelves back in November, and even then it was stuff that had been announced before the game came out.

I know. I keep hoping they'll break that trend though.

For some reason the main site stopped showing me what stage of shipping all the books are in. So... thanks everyone for keeping me updated!

I am stoked for what cyber tech will mean for my gank.

I know, the switch to the products page was quite annoying :-/ . Basically what you do is go to "Upcoming" and it will show the status of everything there. I usually sort by "Roleplaying Games" because Star Wars is pretty much the only thing in that category.

Also, supposedly we're Shipping Now, but I don't see a lot of Shipping going on. Come on people, I'm starting to think I may have misinterpreted what the status update was implying...

Yeah... they got shipped to the stores today... It will say in stores next week when the stores get them Which is usually thursday

then in about 3 weeks after that the rest of the world gets them... but get them we will!

Old info, from the 29th of January, in this very thread.

Tap into those technologies and that sense of wonder with Special Modifications, now available at your local retailer!

I'm wondering about that myself. I was expecting it to come out next week, but that's making me think we may get the announcement tomorrow, along with Nexus of Power...

So... Long thread.. Has anyone mentioned what the new specs will be?

It looks like an expanded version of the armor rules we got with Keep the Peace. Very cool, those rules were crazy flexible without going over the top.

Now hurry up, stupid truck! Be faster!

It looks fun as hell. My Outlaw Tech will be happy.

Cyber guy, Droid guy, Modder guy.

Although the retailers already announced the species, FFG has been oddly silent. I'll update my species list once I get confirmation.

I'm loving Tech Guy - while the Outlaw Tech Guy sounds awesome (I just picked up the tree, but I haven't actually done anything with it), the Modder Guy sounds very promising too. I might have to get both or outright swap, depending on how the tree looks.

Hmmmph, I have to wait for that second ship again...

ut YAAAAYYYYEEE for slicing!

Modder is the one that puzzles me, cuz I thought that was pretty much what an Outlaw Tech was. I'll be curious in regards to the distinction.

Well, from the read, it looks like there will be rules for refining weapons outside of crafting new ones or just adding modifications. Maybe Modder will work with that.

Perhaps it's focused on giving away modded equipment, more than tinkering what you keep on you?

I think you should give 5th a trie. It is actually very good and rules light.

Come to the Dark side Luke... :)

I don't know. I am not a fan of level up characters, neither the huge amount of hit points characters end up having in D&D, I like combats short and deadly, with long lasting wounds if possible.

And all this balancing talk that is always in any D&D community...

but if you insist I will look around on the web and may be give it a read :)

D&D 5th tends to be short combats - 3 to 5 turns is typical for a "balanced" encounter.

Also, turns tend to not take too long.

My biggest single combat was 20 turns in about 1.5 hours with 7 players, 5 player controlled NPC's, and a dozen+ slimes.

Possibly. Improved Jury Rigged and such maybe.
