What does the Starviper need? I don't see anything wrong with it. Have you actually tried flying Xizor or Guri yet?

People insist on fixing every ship so that we can get full use out of the ships we buy and the game we play. If it is fixable, as every ship in the game is, why would we not want a fix?
The problem is, quite a lot of the people bleating on about "fixing this or fixing that" tend to either
a: not own the ships in question or
b: not play them much/at all if they do.
...so really, instead of actually playing with the ships, learning their intricacies, abilities, quirks and roles, they're just saying "make this gud now plz", or simply dismissing them entirely because they're not immediately part of the tournament meta. Which is frankly ridiculous, and a totally unhelpful WAAC approach.
The people who actually put some time and effort into playing with and practicing some of the non-meta ships actually quite enjoy them and get decent mileage out of them.
If FFG consider a ship to be in need of help, they'll give it help, but they'll do it in a calm and measured manner.
They will get to it. That doesn't mean we can't discuss it nor does it give you license to attempt to discredit people who disagree with your opinion of it.
StarVipers I like and play Guri in most of my Scum lists. Generics are a bit generic and probably need help. Another ace and a mid level unnamed with an EPT would be great additions.
The Scyk just doesn't. I bought 2 right away because I like the ship. Flew 1 or both in every scum list they would fit for months. They are subpar when flown at their best. They are poor choices on average for almost any role. When they are bad they are aweful. It needs a pretty big change or really just for its role to be defined to make me want to fly it again. I am hopeful for tractor beams but fear that if beams are good they will be better on other cannon holders.
what about uglies?
that would be a cool ace pack. 2 or 3 different styles of ugly
God, I hope not.
I can go quite far down the EU path, but those things are so hideous as to be actually illegal to own in some countries.
I feel like the Star Viper could use something to boost its action economy or help it clear stress. Likely this just needs to be a new pilot. It wants to be the Vader/Soontir kind of ship, but is missing the ability to take two actions and make 90 degree turns to make this happen. Mostly what hurts it is just how badly it wants the Virago title.
If tractor beams are good you're going to want them on Scyk's before any other cannon holder I'd wager. It's not doing any damage from what we've seen, so you're probably not going to want to waste the attack of a 35ish point, 3 attack ship for a token. Much better to spend the attack of a 17 point investment.

I have flown them a bunch but I have yet to fly any other named starviper.

I thought I read somewhere that Disney had said no to the production of any uglies. Did I imaging that? I thought it was in an interview. Though it may have just been someone here on the forum theorizing and I am mis remembering.
I'm hoping for a Scum aces pack eventually, and like others, I'm hoping for some new upgrades and new pilots for existing ships. Not that your freighter pack wouldn't be cool, Kiloden, but it wouldn't really be an aces pack if it came with a new ship.
As far as which ships need fixing, that's tough. I haven't flown generic StarVipers, but the named pilots have been pulling their weight in my squad. Maybe it could use some new pilots.
The Kihraxz seemed super cool, but I don't feel like I'm getting much out of it, and Talonbane is sort of like old Wedge -- a threat, to be sure, but such a target that he dies quickly. This is in contrast to today's aces that seem to live forever. Again, some new pilots would be nice and maybe something cool to give aces like Cobra a little more longevity, but maybe not.
The Scyk is perhaps my favorite ship at the moment. I just wish it weren't so fragile. But I have lots of ideas to get the most out of them, I just won't get to try any lists out for a few weeks. If people want to give these guys a power bump, I won't say no. I'd love to have my Scyks be feared rather than pittied. But mostly I'd love to see some neat pilots that mayb stress offense a little more. Serissu's good for her Pilot Skill, but it's tough getting use out of her ability. You kinda have to build around it.
Could we see a $45 aces pack with all three? Doubtful. As others have said, one of these may come with an epic ship. My preference would be to maybe get some Hutt Z-95s with Jabba's ship, new Kihraxz stuff with a Black Sun epic ship (and Black Sun paint job), and put the StarViper an Scyk in an aces pack.
Style-wise, I'd love to see a Scyk and a Kithraxz in an Aces pack, because I'd love to see some different art on 'em, and I'd not mind having extras of those ships at all if they were mechanically more potent in the process. (Kithraxz aren't bad, but they feel a little too like the X-wings do at the moment - just a touch shy on oomph. Perhaps it's an issue with AGI 2 being not enough to fight TLT, and not enough HP to withstand fire?)
Balance-wise, it'll be a StarViper and a Scyk, but heck if I know what you'd paint up a second Viper as while keeping it canon. Maybe it'll come with a Virago II title? ![]()
Y'all wanna make your uglies, go ahead. I would suggest the firepower and secondary weapons of the fuselage and the dial and agility of the enginge/wing. Easy enough to kit-bash. I sincerely hope those Tie-Y-Z-Fight-Wing abominations never show up officially.
There were a couple comments the devs made that when put together lead me to believe that Uglies were basically the _only_ ship type that Disney specifically forbade.
I could be wrong about that, but that's my general sense.
On the other wrist (if I understand correctly), Disney said "no" only after the devs approached them and asked. So there's interest on FFG's part. ![]()

It needs a generic PS5 noname EPT pilot, a named "no ept" 6-skill pilot
and a PS8 named pilot. For those who like to kite out a pseudo-dodger.
Xizor is a list-creator, but has no use outside "xizor and ton of cannon fodder" lists
Guri is fun, but suffers at the hands of filthy PS 6+ enemies.
Scyk needs a buff. because it's beneath a power-level plank. Way beneath.

The StarViper is roughly as cost efficient as a pre- Imperial Aces TIE Interceptor. That is- not cost efficient. Neither of the named pilots have abilities that are as good as Soontir's, and the StarViper's dial isn't quite as good as the Squint. The StarViper isn't _bad_, it just isn't quite as good as many of the other ships you could be running.
For a fair fight, you can make a list based around the StarViper, and your opponent can run either the T-65 X-Wing (minus Integrated Astromech), or TIE Defenders.
Ironically, had the Scyk been properly costed out to begin with, you'd end up with a very nice compliment to Xizor's ability. The Z-95 just isn't quite right to fly next to a StarViper- they're basically always the easy meat your opponent is gunning for anyway.
I do have hopes that the Cloaking Device in the illicit slot will be a nice toy for named StarVipers.
It's coming, just be patient, they haven't spoiled all of Wave 8 yet. You can count on such a pack next year.
Isn't Most Wanted already out?
Most wanted was more of a conversion kit. Sure it gave you three models but you could also convert another 4 models (Z-95, Y-wing, HWK-290, Firespray-31) to have a starter scum list. It was made to get scum to catch up with the two original factions which were already 5 waves ahead.
Another interesting idea is to have a "Most Wanted" style set that only has unique pilots for ships from other factions.
Non-unique pilots represent that a faction has heavily invested in the logistics, training and support to produce new non-ace pilots.
However in every SW media including the movies has instances of star ships being captured and use by another faction's pilots.
On the Starviper, I am always a bit curious as to why its run with Z95's. I'd need to test it out, but Y-Wings provide more wounds per point. It's actually by a large enough margin that you can add a TLT and still equal a pair of Z's. Next time I'm feeling scummy maybe I'll try Xizor with a pair of TLT Y's and a Z95. Actually all fits quite nicely with potential for a cloaking device.
I'd really like a Kihraxz in the Black Sun scheme. Also an official Pup, but I doubt they want to make another Z95 pack when it could be put to better use on something else.
I wouldn't be surprised if the (entirely speculative) Minstrel Class Space Yacht came with a z-95 and a bunch of pilots to flesh out the pilot roster

I think people think that the Zs can keep up with Xizor better. But put an Unhinged on your Ys and they should be able to keep up with the prince just fine.
Personally, I like Feedback Zs a lot so I like to put those with Xizor when I run in him. "Wait a minute," you say, "how is Xizor going to pass damage onto the Z when the Z is stuck going 1-straight?" Good question. My ships usually get destroyed before I can find out the answer.
The star viper and M3A need fixing before this.
why do people insist on fixing every ship in the game to make them great.
some ships are just filler ships that fit in certain roles
the best fix for some of these ships is opening up tournaments into scenario style games instead of straight up dog fights.
not every ship should be competitive in every role. its the tournament setting that needs fixing, not the ships.
if they keep fixing ships you will just be adjusting power creep and nothing more.
I'd settle for playable.
M3As are quite playable.
I would love to see the Scyk be remade as a super blocker giving the A-wing a run for its money. And why are there so few Z-95 pilots? The TIE got SIX unique pilots and 3 generics from wave 1! 2 uniques per faction is not good for a swarm ship, as well as no EPT generic. I guess the Z wasn't really a true swarm ship though, just a filler and blocker and cheapest missile carrier.
Starviper doesn't need much except a better paint job but I guess even I could paint it in Virago color(s). A couple more pilots would be good as well as a 'mini-Virago' title that gives either system or illicit.

Well the Z-95 doesn't need a fix - but a fresh batch of Aces would certainly be welcome. And I could say the same for Y-Wings as well.
The StarViper and Kihraxz dun really need a "fix" but more options. More pilots would be great for one - a Non-unique with an Elite and a PS 8 unique would be nice for the Starviper - the PS distribution of the this ship is pretty bad. The Kihraxz is a fine, workable ship, only flaw being it's pilots have extremely simple abilities - a few more pilots with synergistic abilities could make these more popular.
The Scyk is the ship that does need fixing. Its a ship the designer's tried to make a multi-role but haven't really succeeded. I don't think its overpriced in the big glass cannon role, but I do think it's lacking in the blocker/swarmer role and the support weapon carrier role. Also I really dislike the pilots for this ship - would have much prefered a PS: 1 and don't really care for Serissu's ability for scum (Actually if the PS for StarViper and Scyk pilots were swapped, I believe both would have been much better ships). As always more unique pilots cannot be bad for this ship.
