Relic ... was that all?

I really like this game. As an old Talisman fan and WFRP player I was so excited about that release. I was even more excited when I saw what a great design this was! Adventure gaming at its best!

But after Nemesis and Terra, it looks like as if the game won't see any more expansions. I just checked the number of owners on BGG:

Relic Basegame: 2988

Relic Nemesis: 843

Halls of Terra: 313

How sad. Such a great game; I'd love to see more cards, more scenearios, more characters.

I wouldn't base the BGG registered owners with any basis of the game sales. I know gamers who do not put their games on BGG.

Relic does not seem like the kind of game a hardcore BGG person would like, in any case. I own the whole set but don't have it noted on BGG; I use the site for reviews and forums but not for that kind of thing.

Nemesis expansion was a letdown, so much so that I haven't bothered to get the Halls of Terra set. Really would've preferred the first expansion to go down the Reaper way, meaning doubling up the existing decks, instead of adding like three Threat cards to each of the three decks. Nemesis characters were neat as an idea, but not really all that interesting in actual play, with the PvP still way behind that of its excitement/effect in Talisman.

I didn't even know what BBG was until a minute ago. I'm sure they wouldn't base their production just on that alone. Maybe actual sales. I'm still relatively new to the board game scene and so are my friends that I've introduced to these types of games. Just from one games night playing Relic, I had four friends go out and buy their own copy of the base game and expansions.

I would love to see more expansions that add a heap of new content, not just a few cards per deck. I enjoyed Nemesis and that could easily be expanded upon. And HoT was a much better expansion, it's going down the right track. Hopefully they go from strength to strength.

True, not all players and owners track their collection on BGG, but I think those who do, track all their stuff (like me).

So although those numbers won't represent actual sales, I think they do tell roughly how many people who own the base game, bought HoT, for example.

A little bit more than 10%. Not that many ...
