The idea is to use the cr90 as a shield bank who hangs behind the mc80. Ackbar is the admiral here. The cr90 can knock off shields or finish things the mc80 hits. With obscure and evades I'm assuming it will be relatively hard to take out if one were so inclined. Jainas light means it's Ackbarsides (new broadside word) will still connect at 3 reds. If it needs to it is giving the mc80 up to 6 shields over the course of the game. If not it's effectively increasing the mc80s broadside (ackbarside) by three dice. Also does objective hunting and makes french fries.

The question is where is that other 178 going? I feel like maybe I could get away without doing squadrons as the fleet could hypothetically be fast enough to not worry about them too much.

Maybe a mc30 and some nebs? Likes me them activations.

I've seen some talk of this strategy but it seems to deliver to little for the point investment. Doubly so if you're facing a Gunnery Teams ISD - your weakened shields won't hold up very long against a blast from the front arc. I could be wrong, would love to read a battle report on this.

So this is either painfully bad or painfully obvious...

Ran a similar list using Defiance MC80, Akbar, and 2 Corvettes with Projection and a couple fighters.

Its DEFINITELY a hit or miss list. Depending on how well the opponent rolls. If he's rolling average.. you've got him. If he has even one decent high powered roll.. you'll never recover, because once the hole is made, they usually bring other ships/Sqauds to pound the empty space.
