The Widow Tarha mini is the next one up for my painting regime but I am deeply concerned about her headdress/cape. The piece is going to be a HUGE burden to work around, unless I can temporarily remove it. It appears to be glued on but until I know for sure, this mini will have to be put on the back burner. Has anyone painted her? If so, how did you deal with the headdress/cape? I fear that trying to remove it might result in it breaking, and replacing individual Descent minis seems a) difficult; and b) expensive. Any help/advice/suggestions are appreciated.
Painting Widow Tarha
I did paint her and I just worked around the cape. I definitely don't trust my skills to actually cut it off and reattach. It can be painted intact-it just might take you more time.
I painted her fine without removing anything and I didn't think it was overly fiddly. What are your main concerns? Why do you think you need to remove it or work around it?
My normal painting process is to paint from inside out, which means I paid no attention to the cape and skull when painting her head, because I painted these things later.

It may not have been fiddly for you, but this piece has 'trouble' written all over it for me and my shaky hands. There are so many tight spots and deep recesses that I'd prefer to remove it and work on the pieces individually. Also, I have a tiny shake in my hand which makes working in tight spaces and deep recesses very difficult.

Well that explains your worries. However I still wouldn't take her apart. If you prime your minis with black primer I guess you can get away nearly without painting the recesses. If you just paint your miniatures for playing with painted miniatures, I would just paint the head and only paint the top section of the skull white, as you won't really see the other areas during gameplay.
