hounds tooth and margin of victory

By crusaders, in X-Wing Rules Questions

if you have an yv-666 with hounds tooth and the yv-666 is destroyd, you may launch the nashtah pup pilot.

if at the end of the battle the nashtah pup pilot is stil on the battlefield.

do you get the full point value of the yv-666 for the margin of victory or none?

greatings

From the FAQ v3.2 pg. 8:

If the only ship remaining in a match is the

Nashtah Pup Pilot, the player who controls
that ship wins. If this scenario arises during
a tournament match, the Nashtah Pup Pilot
is treated as though it is worth 1 point. For
example, in a standard 100 point dogfight
match, the player who controls the Nashtah
Pup Pilot earns a full win and has a margin of
victory of 101 and his opponent scores 99.

The player that destroys the Hound's Tooth would get the full points for it as it has been destroyed, just like any other ship.

Note: That's only going to happen if the Nashtah Pup is the LAST ship remaining. If there are other ships left on the table at the end of the battle, the Hound's Tooth is still counted as full points.

The Hound's Tooth must be destroyed before, or as, the Pup is deployed. Because it is destroyed the points are lost.

Generally, the Pup is worth NOTHING except in the case where it is the last ship standing. Having it be worth a point in that case allows the win without both sides ending up with the same MoV.

thanks

It's yet another case of the FAQ being published before they checked it fully. There were four versions of the FAQ released during September.

Which makes it hard to keep things straight.

At least handing out a modified win makes a lot more sense when you have a ship that's barely worth anything. The odd idea that you could have had a full, five tournament point win, and a MoV of 100 was really strange and made little sense but that is how things could, and probably should, have been read.

They still have yet to find the text that went missing from page 14 somewhere between 3.2.2 and 3.2.3.
