FFG's 'To-Do' List collaboration for X-wing

By ForceSensitive, in X-Wing

Herein we will try to compile a list of vehicles, miscellaneous gear, and characters, that have yet to find their way into the game of X-wing still, or need additional versions. For our purposes we'll stick to neo canon only (as much as we can stand) and to the established timeframe of Galactic Civil War onward(as much as it pains some of us). So from Rebels, The Force Awakens, and more, collaborate on this list with us. Post pictures and links for references please!

Ships:

Empire:

-Sentinel Shuttle (Large, from Rebels and legends)

Rebel:

-Blade wing Prototype (Small, from Rebels, new model and/or paint, cards)

-Rebels A-wing (Cards and potentially a repaint in a Green scheme, Phoenix squadron namely, from Rebels)

-N-1 Naboo Starfighter (Small, Shattered Empires, Sadly not too probable)

Resistance:

Dynamic class light freighter (large, KOTOR, random guess on faction, needs a more recent canonical appearance to be a sure thing)

First Order:

-Special Forces TIE/fo (Small, from TFA)

-Kylo Rens Command Shuttle (Large, from TFA, Probably very much sooner than later)

Honestly, I see the "special forces" TIE handled by an "Aces pack" approach and maybe a title.

And I've said it before and I'll say it again: just give the Rebels the N1 Fighter. Rebels already used them in Legends, now there's a canon source for it, not to mention that the possibilities for Rebel small-base ships is low. Also, Leia flies one of them, so she can finally join the game as a pilot.

Basically, there's a million reasons why the N1 needs to be added to X-Wing as opposed to the one reason not to of "OMG PREQUELS SUX".

Potentially dumb question but how would that not be in need of a different model? Doesn't this actually look different to the TIE/fo?

I'm not one to want FFG to gouge but I'm also not wanting them to skimp ;)

And, not touching the rest of your post as (in my experience on this forum), too many people are mired in their distaste of the prequels to allow the N1 being in the new-canon (via the comics) to outweigh that. Having only recently started watching "The Clone Wars", there are a bunch of ships I would like to see from that era added to the game, and it really was awesome seeing a YV-666 onscreen.

Dammit, I touched the rest of your post. Sorry about that.

Adding to OP:

Jabba's Yatch

Huge ship with Jabba crew and his entourage. Docking up to 6 Scyks or Z-95s.

SS-54 Assault Fighter

The bounty hunter Sugi's ship from TCW. Embo crew!

Scum GR-75 with a hardpoint.

(And yes! the N1 needs to be in the game, IMO.)

@comradebot,

Do you happen to have a source for the N-1? I also want that ship in the game but mostly because I did like the prequels. Weird I know but what can I say? It has a drunken kung-fu master, and more lasers per minute than the original trilogy, so of course I'm going to like it.

Hondo could work as a Firespray pilot, and also as a way to semi-balance the ship.

There are other reasons and not wanting to go to Prequels is a good one. Imperial's excel at cheap swarm fighters and with the N1 and Z-95 so can the Rebels.

My problem: What would the N1 actually add to the game? This, far more than stylistic concerns, is what FFG focuses on when designing new ships.

Its closest companion stat-wise is probably, of all things, the Scyk. Possibly a TIE/FO.

Rebels already have the Z-95 and A-wing, thanks.

It's not the prequel-era designs that are problematic, at least not all of them. It's what the prequels represent. Portraying the Jedi as a bunch of charlatans who steal children instead of being lawmen. The supposed bad guys never doing anything wrong, and most of all the creepy, dissonant romance.

Yeah... I don't think the Rebels need something that falls between a Z-95 and A-wing stat wise. It would be just a filler ship and not bring anything new to the game.

I think the Special Forces Tie is a shoe in for wave 9 along with Kylo's shuttle.

Almost certainly.

They're new ships, and they're coming out. FFG likes having a new pool to draw from; I'm positive they'll draw on it with gusto.

Bonus points: Unlike the TIE/FO and T-70, which are 'The old ships but fancier' as a design document, the Special Forces TIE's role in life isn't yet entirely clear

Were I FFG, I'd gladly let the actual movie come out and double-check things first. ;)

You don't just add new ships to the game because you feel like it. You add them to fill a role, otherwise you end up with the T-65 problem- It can't do anything that other ships aren't able to do for the same price or cheaper.

What use would an N-1 be for the Rebels? Cheap filler? Z-95 is the best in faction filler without being OP, so it'd have to be worse. Super maneuverable blocker? A-wing has that covered down-pat, as Nathan showed us at Worlds. As FFG have proved to us with the Scyk, you can't bridge those two niches.

What use would something like a TIE Avenger or one of the many other Advanced models do for the Empire? Less maneuverable Interceptor? Then people take the Interceptor when they want an Arc-dodger, or the L/N or AC Advanced when they want a Jouster.

I don't have the new Star Wars issues in front of me so I forget exactly which issue/series (edited: it was "Shattered Empire" issue #3), but Leia returns to Naboo and gets cornered by the Empire and the current Queen has a stash of N1's that they use to destroy a series of satellites. Comics are current canon, not sure if that means anything for game design.

The supposed bad guys never doing anything wrong

How do you mean by that? Which bad guys are you talking about? (Note: I think I agree, just curious on your reasoning)

As stated before - and given your forum handle, I'm preaching to the Jedi choir - man, I miss that game.

I'm taking about the Seppies, of course. Most characters that act immoral in those movies (regardless if it's deliberate evil or simply sloth and incompetence) are Jedi.

The n1 would have some differences from the z95 or awing.

It would have torpedoes instead of missiles.

It would have an astromech slot.

It would likely be able to barrel roll, something most rebel ships in general are lacking.

IG-88B crew card (and possibly A, C and D as well), or is IG too cool to ride shotgun in a Jumpmaster 5000?

Honestly I'm good with any ship they come out with, tourney worthy or not .. I enjoy this game too much, and think ffg has done a great job pulling stuff from different material .. I'm glad we got 'legends' material in the game .. some good stuff in there ..

I would gladly like to see more y.wing and z.95 pilots tho.. (sorry didn't really contribute to the op)

The N-1 could be a chance to make a solid all around ship like the x-wing was supposed to be, or it can be a somewhat competent arc dodger with BR and decent dial, or just a cheap torpedo carrier. Any of these ships we talked about can be whatever we need. Now everyone is gonna disagree with what we need or even if we need anything in the current lineup.

I would like to see something like:

N-1

2 att

2 ag

3 hull

2 shield

Focus TL BR

Torpedo, astromech

Like a less agile TIE/fo fighter with extra shield, torps and astro. Maybe a similar dial.

I guess the cost would be around 15-18 for ps2.

But I would like to see it as part of a totally new faction.

Oh and GUNBOAT!

The n1 would have some differences from the z95 or awing.

It would have torpedoes instead of missiles.

It would have an astromech slot.

It would likely be able to barrel roll, something most rebel ships in general are lacking.

... You know, a 13pt TIE/ln or Scyk equivalent with Astromech and Torpedo upgrade slots would not be nothing.

It's a subtle niche, with the Z-95 on one side and the A-wing on the other, but the astromech slot might just do it, though pricing is going to be very sensitive indeed.

Still, it'd be an excuse to throw in a couple more Astromechs, and given that so many of them showed up in Wave 1 (and have a marked ratio of duds accordingly), you could do worse...

(I say 13pt because the Scyk should've been 13 too)

Gotta admit, when it comes down to the N1, I'm in the "OMG PREQUELS SUX" category. Every time one would be fielded, I couldn't help but think think "Now this is podracing!" and run from the table screaming.
