Yet another reason the Imperial Navy is superior to the Trooper Corps.

Stormtroopers are deadly accurate when they aren't under orders to let the rebel scum escape with a tracking device on their ship.

Gunnery team on an MC-80 would create very real balance issues, IMO.

I am in agreement here. There would be some CRAZY aggressive combinations with Gunnery Teams on an Assault Cruiser.

Gunnery Teams, Defiance, X17 Turbolasers, NK-7's, Engine Techs, Redundant Shields, and Electronic Countermeasures. . . What a tough ship to Crack. . .

Buy what the cost of that. With ackbar about 364. All on two ships. Vs 2 ISD with gunnery teams and a rhymer ball of 4 bombers and 4 tie advance. Figure the ISD with x17 and overload pulse with avenger. Bit more bite.

Excuses, excuses. You put two proton torpedoes in a 2 meter vent without a targeting computer and we'll talk.

What about the MC90? It's supposed to be a borderline battleship, designed for true combat instead of the MC80 makeshift conversions. The Defiance is supposed to be that, but it's rather meh.

I dont think we will be getting Large ships for 1 or 2 waves. I would not mind if they make the liberty just a larger medium base

I know the size is unclear, but it's certainly in the same rough size class as Home One isn't it?

Riiight, that's why they get their arses handed to them by a bunch of teddy bears throwing sticks!

Given the shape of the ship, there's a good chance it could have fairly equal front and side arcs, so Gunnery Team might not be the best Weapons Team to take anyway.

I dunno what weapons it actually has, in canon, but I'm thinking a roughly equal number of dice on the front and side arcs but with the front arcs being long range and the side arcs close range makes sense, tactically, in which care you might still want Gunnery Teams.

The Defiance in Armada is an MC80, as seen in the old X-Wing games. The MC90, as you pointed out, is a dedicated warship, and is a completely different design than the MC80 Home One type, being more of a wedge shape, and packing more firepower. I wouldn't expect to see the MC90 for quite some time, as it far less known than the Liberty, and would need to be set against a bigger Imperial ship.

I wouldn't count on seeing the MC90 at all, doesn't the era it's set in conflict with Force Awakens?

The Liberty Class will only have 3 firing arcs: Rear, left, and right. The left and right firing arc will meet in the middle, so that a ship straight ahead of the Liberty could be attacked with left and right.

Not really.

Kindof, but so does the E-Wing, K-Wing or TIE Defender.

Actually, I really like that idea, assuming that it only gets three arcs for shields as well. Wonderful aggressive ship, does big damage at the expense of fewer shields overall and the enemy getting their pick of what arc to target. I'll take seven.

I can't get on board with that for the shields

New base would be required. Don't hold your breath IMO.

Indeed, but it's too late to not include them in X-Wing. We may well not see them in Armada.

Actually, the Deliverence is a MC90.

Defiance is still a MC80

But they are both Mon Cal cruisers with cool, strong and powerfull names ;)

Hey Mel

Since you got alot of practice making the gun/hull blisters for the Liberty MC80 you have on shapeways.

Would it be possible for you to make seperate Mon Cal like gun/hull blisters in various sizes and lengths, which can be purchased on shapeways?

This way people has an option to customise their Mon Cal cruisers or other rebel ships, to give each of them their own unique look.

Anyway just a thought ;)

In the X-wing PC games Defiance was a MC80a, I played that a lot back then, so my memory isn't wrong on that part.

But I always remembered it as, from one of many sourcebooks or wookipedia, that Deliverance was a MC90, but I have to look into that.

Maybe someone edited the wookipedia.

A plausable explaination, could be that the "first" Defiance was a MC80a, which got lost in one of the many battles the Alliance/New Republic fought against the Empire, and that the "second" Defiance was/is a MC90 named after its predecessor.
