Big Event

Hi All

I have a big event coming up this weekend. One of those massive once-a-year tournaments.

I expect to see all the power builds from TLT spam to Tie Adv spam, rebel swarm, imperial swarm, brobots, imperial and rebel aces...etc.

Basically everyone will be bringing their A list.

I have most of the ships in the game (minus raider,tooth, punisher and scum k fighter).

I am not the best pilot, my distance perception is poor and green dice hate me. (Red dice like me only half the time).

I am not expecting to win but I would like to give the big boys a scare and run for their money.

I considered FAT YT1300 or 2400 + Ace but discarded the idea based on my track record with those builds. I do well against 2-4 enemy ships but more than 4 I always lose.

What would you suggest I fly considering the above?

My short list is :

2x B Wing (ion cannon and FCS) - 50

2x Y Wing (Ion Turret) - 50

1x Tie F/O - Omega Ace - PTL - shield upgrade - 27

1x Y Wing - Horton - TLT - Engine Upgrade - 35

1x Z95 - Blount - Vet Instincts - Assault missile - 23

How important is it to have a late game 'runner'?

By this I mean an A wing or something else just as fast that can move 5 and boost to get away from the enemy and run the clock down.

This ship would need PTL and autothrusters as a minimum to keep alive.

Do you factor this kind of ship into your list for when your plans go sour and you just need to bank points for the next round?

Go with BBBBZ. From what you have said this build can be forgiving to minor mistakes that may be cause by your lack of perception skills. Also sense green dice betray you then it's another reason to go with BBBBz because they hardly have green dice. This is a hard hitting list and there are enough ships to be able to cover a lot of board and there by keeping a Ace or two in their sights.

After going back and forth I realized more ships are better than less ships but I also want to keep my options open to have a late game rabbit that can run and hide and save me points.

I also thought that Bs without FCS are half as effective as they could be for 2 pts each.

So I will try out:

3x B wings with FCS

1x A Wing - Jake - PTL - Wired - Authothrusters - CR

That way I have enough firepower to drop one TLT y Wing per turn or gang up on an ace.

It also gives me the late game rabbit. who will be a tough SOB to hit.

Veteran instincts > wired. Arc dodging at ps9 will save jake more than reroll ing focus. If you flank with him and slow roll the bwings he shouldn't get shot at. If he does it'll be 1 less thing that shooting your bwings.
