Yet Another Vader ISD list....

By MunGo0600, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hi all, this is my first post so go easy....

ISD II

Vader
ECM
Overload Pulse
Intel Officer
Relentless
XI7
Gunnery Team

ISD II

ECM
SW-7
Avenger
XI7
Gunnery Team

Bobba
Bossk

Hopefully you can see what I'm going for, it's a one two punch with Bobba and Bossk clearing up stragglers.

My concerns are it's too niche, too few activations, and too much of a one trick pony, still a relative beginner, so advice would be greatly appreciated.

As a side note, if anyone knows any good groups to get involved with in North London please let me know, I can only play with my brother as armada is not the sort of thing my friends go for (heathens) but he lives a pretty long way away!

Cheers guys!

I'd drop XI7 from the Avenger, maybe the Intel officer from Relentless, too. Maybe even cut Bossk and Fett, then work in a few regular squadrons. 2 rogues won't do much as a fighter screen, and they'll go down pretty fast depending on what your opponent brings for squadrons. Even though TIEs die quickly, their numbers help pin down enemy fighters, so your ships can focus on enemy ships. You could also possibly drop Avenger from an ISD-2 to a 1 to free up some points.

Then again, I have almost no local scene to play (no game stores within around 200 miles), so I come from limited experience with rather few opponents. Take my thoughts with a HUGE grain of salt.

Yeah, thinking about it, if it goes to plan, the XI7 on the avenger us a bit redundant, also thinking the SW-7 seems a little excessive with Vader, so I've dropped them for points, not totally sold on dropping the rogues, but I might free up some space for some TIEs or IG-88, but with gunnery teams and two blues coming out of the ISDs I'm confident I can whittle down squadrons coming out at me.

Welcome to the forums! Not a bad start for a first list. :-)

I think 2 ISDs is going to be scary to face. However, I personally would try and add a cheap Raider-I to get another activation. Perhaps drop some of the upgrades (Intel officer, SW7 and maybe even ECMs) and trade out your rogues for some plain old TIE fighters or interceptors to run interference whilst your star destroyers do the heavy lifting.

Also, when I first started playing I tended to forget the objectives. Worth having a think about what works well for your list and make it part of the build. Perhaps Advanced Gunnery (or Most Wanted if you get a Raider), Fleet Ambush (to divide your opponent's fleet) and Superior Positions (to offset your low number of deployments).

Good luck!

Don't know about North London (I live south of the river), but Dark Sphere in central London (near Waterloo) has a few tournaments coming up I think. Or my FLGS in Bromley (Warboar) runs some good tournaments!

The tournaments are a good way to meet a bunch of new players.

So about:

ISD II
Vader
ECM
Overload Pulse
Relentless
XI7
Gunnery Team
ISD II
ECM
Avenger
Gunnery Team
Raider - I

3 TIE fighters.

Most Wanted
Contested Outpost
Minefields

How does this compare?

Also, how are the Dark Sphere tournaments for people who are reasonably new to the game? I'm not fussed about winning, and I'm pretty sure I know the rules, but there is a difference between thinking I know the rules, and knowing them...

I like it. Looks like a solid list. Plus some nice objective choices to give your opponent a hard time!

TBH I haven't been to the tournaments at Dark Sphere, but a lot of the guys at my local store go. They are all nice - and win or lose, you always learn a lot about playing the game from some better players.

I would suggest practicing with the rules to get the hang of it first. Then reread the rules and find the little things you missed (in my case, e.g. accuracy symbols counting for anti-squadron fire). Once you are pretty happy with the basics you are good to go.

I'd move Vader to the Avenger. The Relentless is going to be in front taking the brunt of incoming damage and you'll want to make sure Vader lasts as long as possible.

Yeah that makes sense, and also it helps spread the points around a little.

Good plan. I am gonna try and make it to the next Dark Sphere event, so maybe see you there!
