Verena Talos, Close Quarters, and Arsenal

How would Verena Talos' "Close Quarters" ability work against an enemy with the Arsenal or Epic Arsenal ability? Would Verena get to choose her dice to use?

Close Quarters (on Verena Talos): "Perform an attack targeting an adjacent hostile figure using that figure's attack type and attack pool."

Arsenal (on IG-88): "Your attack pool consists of any combination of 2 attack dice."

Epic Arsenal (on General Weiss): "Your attack pool consists of any combination of 3 attack dice. You may not roll more than 2 dice of a single color."

You would use the arsenal ability to choose any dice you want. Since the abilities state that the attack pools consist of any dice, any abilities that reference the figures' attack pools can use whatever colors they wish.

Typically I'd say, RR, RY, or RRY

No, because Relentless definitely is a separate ability from the attack.

No. All she does is copy his dice, she doesn't get his traits.

This includes surges, so she can't recover when attacking as IG or blast as Weiss, she always uses her own surges.

I just noticed: Fighting knife doesn't specify that it needs to be the same target, that's awesome (considering it has a 22/36 chance of one shoting a hired gun, 15/36 for an officer without cower and 13/36 for a stormtrooper).

using RR against IG88 is an epic fail as you will not have any accuracy and RY is a 33% chance of having 0 accuracy (except of course if you have focus)

Close Quarters requires adjacency, so accuracy isn't needed.

With a range attack accuracy is always needed. Even if you are adjacent you still need Range 1, so 2 Red die would miss.

It turns out FFG anticipated the issue of Close Quarters interacting with Arsenal and Epic Arsenal. The targeted character gets to decide what dice Verena rolls (Return to Hoth Rulebook, page 8, the second bullet point under Close Quarters).

This makes Close Quarters essentially useless against IG-88, unless Verena's player is holding Deadeye.

Definitely not worthless, as red die have surge values which would allow her to perform combat knife if rolled. But still not as useful as rolling her own dice in the absence of +accuracy command card. However, it would force the IG player to weigh the low damage from a blue-blue attack against the possibility of a 5 damage attack with one surge to trigger combat knife, leading to possibly a 9 damage activation if perfectly lucky and carrying deadeye.
