Anyone else think that the artwork for the new TIE Pilot 'Chaser' is a bit silly?
Surely if anything the image should have been of him / her chasing another ship...not the other way around.

The name should be "Successful troll"
because art and ability force it into derpy dangerous situations

So people won't have to go looking.
I've two theories;
1) It's an ironic nickname
2) Chaser is so-called because s/he 'chases' the other TIE pilots around to get their tasty focus.
That's not Chaser, that's the poor sap he/she's getting his Focus from. Cheers!
Judging from the art, it has to be a nickname in mockery (the best ones alsways are)
like "sniper" for someone who can't hit the broadside of a barn,
or "pathfinder" "scout" for someone who gets lost in the woods on a regular basis etc..
this guy obviously always has someone on his 6' .. so chaser it is.. ![]()
Well, he is chasing someone and has an X-Wing on his tail - and is still alive.
Quite apt no?
Would Chaser always be in the wingman position?
Chasers in a stolen x wing.
In cross country running, we used to have what we called a 'rabbit.' This was a team mate who would start off the race at nearly a sprint -- a pace that is virtually impossible to maintain for the duration of the race. The idea was that runners from th other team would try to keep up with our rabbit and would burn out, thus letting our top runners finish first.
Now, I've never heard the word 'chaser' used to refer to a 'rabbit,' but that's the mental image I have of chaser. He's the decoy the enemy is supposed to chase, but they soon find that going for him was a bad idea as he stacks up focus tokens over the course of the combat round.

That actually makes a whole lot of sense ![]()
Chaser was killed by Wedge flying a t-65, was he not? This could be a picture of his last moments... Which seems pretty mean to me!

He served as a warning to others. He brought down his whole squadron by begging Focus off of them.

I like this. Don't know if it's true but it sounds good.

Should he not be called "Chasee" in that case?
real-life-analogy coming, beware!
2-3 years ago a customer of mine had a workshop in an industrial area nearby. whenever I stayed there over lunch, most of us went to a fast-food-restaurant (in dialect-german: "Frittebuud") right next door.
the owner of that Frittebuud was called "Speedy".
now, speedy made some really good fries, but you had to hurry to get there in time; because even in 1hour lunchbreak, speedy barely got the orders out in time for you to eat:
not because speedy was slow in serving the orders, but he was his own kind of slow. so unbelievably slow, he got his own nickname just because of that ![]()
thinking about it, maybe chasers tie-figher smells a lot like fries and currywurst^^
Edited by WokeUpDeadIt just occurred to me that "Chaser" seems to lack a "once per round" qualifier.
So you could, theoretically, stick "Chaser" with seven Academy Pilots, have all of them spend their Focus, and the round ends with "Chaser" holding onto eight focus tokens.
For... reasons?
He's not some overwhelming, but the more I think about it the more I think he's a solid enough option for his low cost. Only PS3, so likely other pilots shoot before him, which means "Chaser" is free to use his action to do whatever and should still be likely to have a Focus token waiting for him to modify his attacks with. Will also be a "poor man's" Dark Curse as a lot of players won't bother shooting at him if all he's going to do is get new tokens later in the shooting phase anyways. Otherwise, he gets minor insurance against blocking (only PS3, so not going to happen super often), and it means he can Barrel Roll and still modify attack dice, which isn't terrible (though, again, only PS3).
I think Chaser's biggest failing will be similar to "Fel's Wrath" before him, with Wampa being to Chaser what Lt. Lorrir is to FW, and it'll frequently make you go "why would I take this guy instead?". Unlike FW/LL, Chaser n' Wampa are cheap enough you could just take both.
'Chaser' is always following some TIE pilot named 'Shotglass' for some reason.
Chaser with Targeting Computer and a high PS friendly Focus token user is A-OK for the points imho.
