Double ISD "Avenge This" 400pts

By thecactusman17, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

After playing my first two Double ISD games today (W1 L1) I was thinking about Avenger, and if there was something perhaps even more disgusting to replace it with if you didn't want to take Overload Pulse.

Lets see you try playing defense against this:

394/400

ISD2

Darth Vader

Intel Officer

Gunnery Team

Q7 Tractor Beams

Electronic Countermeasures

NK-7 Ion Cannons

XI-7 Turbolasers

XI-7 turbolasers

Aggressor

Opening Salvo

Fire Lanes

Superior Positions

As most players can tell, this is a list simply designed to completely deny the enemy any defensive capability by eliminating enemy defense tokens entirely. Screed could also be used, but I think that a bad roll of the red dice will cause players to play their tokens too conservatively. I want players forced into a situation where they are rapidly discarding tokens or getting no use from them, and preferably both.

Superior Positions is mainly there to force my opponent to deploy where I can immediately respond. I can't think of any good alternative.

I think Superior Positions is a good choice to offset your deployment disadvantage from so few ships.

Fire Lanes should also work, although Fleet Ambush might be nice to split up your opponent's forces or Contested Outpost to force them to come to you.

Opening Salvo wouldn't be my first choice with this fleet. If your opponent outnumbers you then you are basically giving them a firepower advantage. Advanced Gunnery for the double tap on your non-flagship would work, but you need to be mindful of an opponent running an MC80. Probably still worth the trade, and the other assault objectives don't have great synergy with your list.

I like Opening Salvo because it is perhaps the only objective where I am likely to shoot first. Also, as second player I can trigger those ion canons a turn early.

Very true - that is a good call. Didn't think about the Ion Cannon effect. Just watch out for those pesky Rebels evading your crit at long range. I guess that's where the Intel officer helps.

I think Opening Salvo is also the objective with half points for a damaged ship. So if you go with it, be sure to queue up some repairs!!
