So when are we getting a TIE Fighter pilot named Ewok or Wookie?
Wampa..... Are you freaking kidding me!?!?
I could just see "Wookie" being given as a callsign to someone with a lot of body hair.
Thank god he AIN'T got an ept - it would signal a serious imbalance in the game. Imperial listbuilding would become 85pt & wampcalc. It would also signal that the designers had hit a brick wall, and started to depend on power creep to develop the game, and thus the approach of x-wing's twilight years. So, in short, no thanks.

he is. and we are.
next worlds will be wampas only.
oh, and hans only.
oh, and dashes only.
and everything else only, because everything is totally broken atm.
And when everything's broken...

I think it is important for ffg to keep so eunique pilots without epts. I think the community really has going the way of ept for all. The lack of the ept on uniques force people to build more synergistic lists, and make people really think about what ships they want in there lists.
While the rebel y-wing with no ept is annoying at times, it is still an applicable ship and makes the choices of pilot and ship tough. At this point in x wing, with so many ships, people should be really struggling to pick ships for lists. This is what makes the game exciting, the choices, diversity in list building, and how changing one ship can completely change how you fly your list.
Enjoy the challenge, embrace the chalange. Build lists that break the meta!

The unique pilots without EPTs has got to stop...
You're saying even if FFG gives a pilot an ability it is automatically not enough. Really?
I'm okay with him not having an EPT slot.
Edited by Ken at SunriseI think Wampa is quite right the way he is.
Without any help hes a gamble - but only one point more expensive then an Obsidian - with help hes able to produce an auto hull damage to whatever he got in his arc.
Or he could just be more expensive without increasing his PS significantly.Thank god he AIN'T got an ept - it would signal a serious imbalance in the game. Even if he was the most expensive TIE in the game at 19 points and kept his PS at 4 it probably wouldn't be enough to discourage taking him with calculation.
It's a simple case imo. Like other have stated, Wampa with calculation would be very OP.

nothing to see, move along. move along..!
I once had a pro E-Sports annalist explain to me that a properly balanced game was one where _every_ champ/unit was "broken". The trick- he said- was for every unit/camp to be broken _differently_. And for them to only be broken when properly used.
"Broken" in this context is in the "over powered" sense
Because his ability is INSANE. He lacks an EPT very deliberately.
Whoops. Yep.
Wampa w targeting computer
Night beast w ion engine m2
Run them together as flankers. They get two actions each on greens moves.
How does Wampa get a second action here? Are you confusing Wampa and Chaser?

Really.
There are few exceptions of pilots without EPTs that there ability alone causes them to see a lot of play.
Wampa's one of them
Miranda's another
Deathrain also doesn't care
Sadly, redline cries himself to sleep every night, wishing he had vi

Graz the Hunter cries more. ![]()
Seriously though, Wampa's fantastic. You can swarm him with Youngster (Kinda rubbish, but possible), or you can put him with the Emperor and... I'm not sure what else to chuck in there, but it's an intruging option instead of the mid-30s pilots that usually escort him.
And unlike a BSP, he's actually 14 points. You could do a lot worse if you have a couple points spare, but not quite enough to justify the 15, and don't care about the initiative bid. He's not as kill-me-first as Backstabber, but I'd still be nervous of letting Soontir sit in his arcs, and he's two points cheaper. Plays nicely with a swarm of Obsidians, too. ![]()
With a rebel yell?
Snip
Graz the Hunter cries more.
Him having access to an EPT would be degenerate as hell
I don't know why you guys were expecting a pilot with this effect this cheap to be able to proc it himself.
Empire SUCKS at synergy.
Not counting new ties;
Col. vessery + any source of target locks
Rexlar brath + any extra actions
Cap. Jonus + secondary weapons
Vader + squad leader
Cap. Kagi
Col Jendon
Lt. Yorr
Howl runner
Epsilon leader
Carnor Jax
Zertik Strom
Fleet officer
Palpatine
There's lots of synergy to be found.
You know, people talk up Rebel Synergy a lot, but have any of their support uniques besides Biggs and Roark* actually seen competitive play? Whereas Carnor and Howlrunner both regularly perform well at regionals and nationals.
EDIT: Went through the rebel pilots. Lando and Etahn have seen a little play, but are still very much fringe pilots. Esege, Dutch, and Garven don't see any competitive play. That leaves Cracken, who has a powerful ability, but suffers from being a 19 point Z-95.
*Roark showed up at least occasionally for phantom hunting, so I'm counting him even though I don't think he was in anything of note post-phantom nerf.

Ors sees fringe play from time to time
I'm legitimately surprise nobody has tried to experiment more with the rebel HWK's since TLT (scum HWK's are a real thread and you should be VERY afraid of them)
Blame Calculation. It is a good thing that he doesn't have an EPT. It helps keep him in line. It would suck for A-wings, V1s, and E-wings to worry about one pilot so much.
