I'm about 3.5 hours from Indy and am definitely interested. I'll be following this thread for updates and a more specific timeframe.
2 day, six round tournament - interest and thoughts
Awesome!
I will continue to collect ideas in this thread and then announce the official info in the organized play forum (and everywhere else!)
Glad there's lots of interest! Between here and other channels over 25 players willing to do a two day event. Hurrah! ![]()
Mark me down as interested. I don't get to play much, but I only live 2 1/2 hours away and it sounds like fun!
Awesome!

26 interested..... Four more to meet my goal ![]()
What's the weather like around that time of year? I know the East Coast tends to get hit in February, might be worth it to try to set a March date for ease of travel.
id be interested if my buddy and i can get the ok from our wives (dunno about that yet)
The weather in late February in Indiana is quite reasonable. Early February is doubtful. I am leaning to last week February to mitigate the weather. Plus, it's leap year and it'd be fun to have the tourney on that! Heheh....
I am looking at over thirty interested with today's add ins.
Secured the game locale this evening. New game store in Indy with capacity for 70+ players. Awesome store...
Working on hotel block with several hotels within walk distance of store
Got substantial (approaching epic level) prize support. ![]()
I think this will be a go.
I'll do my best to have an event link setup by first next week so everyone can sign up electronically and reserve a spot.
Thanks for all the interest people!
Mike

@lyraeus
I'll have all that within a week. Tourney likely in the 10-15 range and all toward prize support. I find that requiring an entry fee means people will commit if they have to pay
. And don't want 40 "yeah..ill come" only to see half decide to last minute drop.
Hotels pricing will follow. Estimate single night rate in the 60-90 range. I'm trying to get a small block apportioned at a lower rate.
Transport will be obviously variable. However, I will be happy to arrange a shuttle of sorts for people flying in that way car rental is not an issue. The game site is 18 minutes by highway from the Indy airport, or 21 minutes from the bus station.
Give me a,few days and I'll have an event sign up link will all the pertinent details ![]()
Plan for a 2 day tournament. If 32 people show up you should do a 5 round tournament which doing all 5 in one day is crazy.
Even with 32 or less, more rounds will be fun. And two days is what I'm planning. Should be fun. Figure I may compare renting a car for the whole trip or pricing out a flight and local rental.
I am so Jealous.
I miss the big Tournaments. I really do. Back home, I used to be fairly involved with Arcanacon40k, which at its absolute height, was a 220 player tournament over 2 days...And that was just the 40K side of things, that didn't include the Warmachine, Infinity, FoW and the other assorted system, or the Roleplaying Convention...
Maybe something will change in the new Year and we can bill it as a family trip... But for the moment, I'll wish everyone well and quietly be jealous ![]()
(Its more that, for me, travelling to the US is very difficult, due to my past life circumstances)
Oh it's absolutely gonna be two days five rounds at least, maybe six. At this point I have discussed with the venue and I am probably gonna open it up to 70 total entrants. We have plenty of space for that many and tables, etc.
I also want to make it "worth" the trip. So more games, more opponents, more prizes...more fun!
And, ultimately, it's selfish. I want the game to grow so I have regular opponents! ![]()
Travel to and around Indy is quite easy. Tons of east west and north south highways and a brand new airport and bus terminal. Excellent local commuting as well.

I would love to come for this out but would need to get the okay from the wife. I already travel a lot for work and leaving her alone with our 4 and 2 year old boys on a weekend while I go play awesomeness might just put her over the edge.
Stasy, if I can pull this off I'm sure we could work out some travel coordination (I would definitely fly though as I have a bajillion Southwest points).
Indy also has lots of up and coming craft breweries. Lots of good local beer coming out of there now (as I have done some work in that city as well).
McMann running a tourney? I think I may just have to check this out!
I hope I can get some Louisville area folks to come with me.
Tom you better come! ![]()
I expect a herd of you "southerners" up here! ![]()
And yes, Indy also is a great general spot to visit. Lots,of stuff for the non games and great food and beverages! ![]()
Hotel Room block contract all locked in.
Game Store "Family Time Games" secured
Prize support rocketing up
Its all coming to fruition just as I have foreseen......mwuha...MWuah...MWUHAHAH!
err... umm... Looks like Ill be able to get this rocking ![]()
Expect the actual event sign up by Tuesday or Wednesday ![]()
Kuudos on pulling everything together
Its always an accomplishment in its own right.
Thanks man! It's a challenge but worth it to grow the group!
Awesome! I'm currently thinking of renting a car and making the trip out. Slightly cheaper than round trip flight despite it being like 1200 mi round trip (plus I get rental discounts through work). If I do that I'm willing to take on a passenger or two to save on commuting costs.
Absolutely pumped to see something like this being set up. Awesome work.
this sounds like a great idea, sadly i would never drive down to Indy from Montreal in the middle of winter.
I'm interested. I have a friend who would likely come in from the East Coast to join up as well.
Tournament announcement posted in the Organized play section
Please hop on and register if you want to attend!
