Sleeper Agent Phase - executing characters

By YoshiPL, in Battlestar Galactica

After reading the rules and playtesting the game I came to this idea.

Imagine a 6 player game. 2 are cylons plus their leader. So there are only 3 real humans. After the Sleeper Agent Phase when everyone has all of their Lyalty Cards simply start throwing everyone out the Airlock. If the cylons weren't exposed then you will get them. If you get a human, well big deal - just -1 Morale. And since there are 3 humans then it will be only max. -3 morale which I bet won't happen! After this you will have the knowlege who is who... kinda crappy cause it destroys everything the game was about :/

What do you think?

More problematic with this approach is the cost in skill cards and actions. Firstly, the difficulty of the airlock is 12, which is by no means trivial. Secondly, executed persons lose their hand, further damaging their ability to help with further executions. Lastly, this is action intensive: any attack crises that leave civilian ships in danger will result in more resource losses. Oh, and with all the cards going into Airlock checks or being lost for execution, you're going to fail every crisis skill check.

Mostly, it seems like a good idea, but as you're playing the game, you'll find that it's just not feasible to actually do it, and you'll find yourself having difficulty pulling off even two executions (remember that unrevealed Cylon players, once they catch wind of what your'e doing will sabotage the check with green if they can, because it's common).

More than anything, the Airlock ends the debates in the original game of whether to brig someone or not. In the original game, brigging a human was really bad for the humans, but brigging a cylon basically forced them to reveal. The Airlock still forces a cylon to reveal, with an a few added bonuses, but executing a human is quite painless. Preventative policy makes the consequences even less.
