When the Assault Carrier hits, it looks like my local community would like to have a big epic event (team vs. team with narrative special mission). In terms of a larger story that I've built and shared (see sig), something involving the running of a blockade would fit very nicely.
I don't know how many will show up, but I'm anticipating (ie. hoping for) two teams of four each - or maybe four tables with four different battles. (They definitely want something narrative; but I have room to make executive decisions regarding the precise format.)
I'm wondering if any here can give me tips and ideas for hosting such an event, and devising the special conditions that will make it different than just a deathmatch as well as challenging for both teams. Has anyone (here) done such a thing?
Blockade-running big team epic event - ideas wanted
How many of each ship do you expect, or can you reasonably expect?
I'm thinking, have one player be the Gozanti captain bringing support troops to where they are most needed, by flying off the friendly side, to reappear the next planning phase during another battle.
Hang on.
Two tables
4 players to a side.
Imperial:
Overall commander, with one Raider, 200 points.
Support commander, Gozanti, few backup TIEs in reserve
Sector Commanders, two players, each to one table of two playmats each. They have 150 points each.
Commander can fly off friendly edge to lend support on the other table if needed. Reenters new planning phase.
Support Commander can do the same, picking up new TIEs if needed to be handed off to the local commander. Reenters new planning phase with as many ships as could be attached. No waiting!
Sector Commander can hand eligible ships off to the Gozanti for repair and restocking (off playing area).
Rebel:
Overall Commander
Convoy Captain
Attack Wing
Escort Wing
Take the convoy from one small edge to the opposite edge, entering on the next table on the Imperial side, escaping to the Rebel side.
Rebel Edge, Imperial Edge, Imperial Edge, Rebel Edge

Wow, I like where you're taking this idea. I had also thought to separate the tables, and to allow . I was thinking 4x standard, but 2x double would probably work too. The command structure that you've worked out is also something that I like.
I was also thinking about a victory point system (I will probably be using a tournament kit for prize support) that gives the Rebels points for each huge ship with an empty cargo slot or unused Tibanna Gas Supplies (maybe more points for Expanded Cargo Hold, presuming it's filled with necessary supplies), and the Imperials victory points for each of those destroyed.
