First Impressions

By ender424, in Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game

After playing through tutorial and first quest; and understanding rules and how campaigns work I can say I'm very impressed so far and think this one is a winner for me.
It's pretty much a faster and easier version of LotR LCG but love the quick mechanics and how it encourages players/characters to help each other out.

Love the artwork and writing.

Very addicting and already wondering if you have enough quests in here!

Good job FFG!

Played about 8 hours of it over the holiday, got through three quests and the intro with a group of four. I can already tell there aren't enough quests, because it's too fun. **** Snap Krackle popped off before we could get him.

Just got it yesterday by sheer dumb luck (a pre-order canceled!), and played the intro last night and the single delve today.

Awesome game - loving it so far!

I hope they release some downloadable quests soon, cos I can see myself/my group tearing right through the complete campaign!

We tried this out last weekend ( read about it in our blog ) and it seems like a great game! I only wish for FAQ (and more content to be announced in the future).

Nice summary, doc_cthulhu. Thanks.

Since this game appears to have sold out immediately, I suspect we will get an announcement about expansions shortly. They might wait to make an announcement until the 2nd printing is on the boat, though.

Sorry doc_cthulhu, but I pretty much disagree with your assessment of the game.

You got killed during the tutorial? With three people?!?

I played it solo with two heroes and finished in a few turns.

Played the delve with the same two heroes and found it to be challenging but pretty balanced.

Also, I'm seeing a lot of people claiming issues with the rulebook/rules reference. I found them both to be only slightly disorganized but otherwise easily understandable. Maybe you guys didn't spend much time with it?

I'm not trying to call you out or anything, I just didn't want anyone getting the wrong impression. My experience with the game and it components so far has been extremely positive!

That's totally ok Kintaro1! These were just my impressions on the game.

To clarify:

During the tutorial I used the fireball to attack three different opponents, scored eight points of damage and was finished by the goblin archers since I had nothing else to activate. It was just stupid from my part, but it was fun and I liked how it set the tone of the game. While trying the delve I was playing with just one friend and thus we had two actions both before the monsters which seemed to make the game much easier.

Making statements about the FFG's rulebooks is something of a running (immature) gag in our group. But seriously. I have never seen any other participant in gaming industry to make such a mess of their rulebooks.

I really do not want anyone to get the wrong impression either. This is clearly the best board game (for me) I have encountered in years. I loved it through and through. I must also make a note that this wasn't a "review" is was "trying out". Reviews should be more detailed and have a lot less "flavor" (and jokes) but since this was more or less a "story about my first night with the game".

(I posted this as a reply to the blog post to clear things up. Thanks for pointing this out!)
