A great supplement based on the original drafts of Star Wars, with characters/npcs based off of the McQuarrie art.
You Know what would be nice?
I believe Rebels is the TV show you're looking for.

What are you two talking about? Rebels is awesome.
I watch it, but I don't like it as much as clonevwars.
I will say though, the latest episode felt A LOT like one of myngaming sessions...
I like it a lot. Especially if you manage to tolerate the earliest "kiddie" stufd.
The show becomes more mature rather quickly.
IIRC, Clone Wars took a little bit to get into stride, and I afford Rebels the same courtesy. It started a little rough in season 1 and finished off better than I expected.
Sure, it's geared mostly towards kids. Seems like "kid takes on unsurmountable odds and finds him/herself in the process" is a very common theme in Star Wars.
Rebels just seems to watered down for me, and even though it took clone wars a bit to find its identity, it never shied away from really dark and mature themes. It had compelling story telling and acting from the get-go, was well paced and the performances were way beyond your run of the mill TV Show. Sure, it was no breaking bad, but it outdid all of the other shows in its class, unlike Rebels, which really shows that its pulling punches for kids, which makes it less enjoyable for everyone else. And while some may say its unfair to compare it with CW, Dave Filoni was at the helm of both, so I know it could be better. So, if I'm being really honest, its not the fact that the show is "bad", its the fact that it had SO MUCH POTENTIAL, but didn't reach it.

it never shied away from them in the later seasons.
Speaking as if it's cancelled already...
Are you referring to The Star Wars? Where luke is the older Jedi and Annikin Starkiller the younger? And the stormtroopers were all supposed to have lightsabers?

YES! Which is why I never understood why anyone brought up Rebels, its far from that, and even though it has a kind of McQuarrie-ish sort of kinda look if you squint really hard (lol, its not really that McQuarrieesque) its not like his ORIGINAL concept art where all the Stormies had frickin lightsabers and shields.

It's easy to see where thr creator of Jabba's palace got his inspiration

Yeah, I'm not sure how Rebels fits into this either - never did read this series but I will get to it some day, it sounds like a very compelling setting.
Star Wars on TV, Who'd ever thought that in 1977
How did Rebels get involved? Well, Lothal was based on McQuarrie pre-production art for Alderaan. Zeb was based on McQuarrie art for Chewbacca. Chopper was based on early art for Artoo. Even the design they give Vader is based heavily on the look he had in the earlier McQuarrie art. The entire show's visual style is steeped in McQuarrie's work.
I know one of the Rebels characters is based on one of the unused designed for Chewbacca, so maybe that's the link (although personally I don't think they're very similar)?

Rebels uses a lot of McQuarrie's art and concepts. One of the criminals is based off one of the early drafts for Jabba. Zeb is based off Chewie, there was even a joke about him being a hairless Wookiee. Even Darth Vader's helmet is shaped to be closer to McQuarrie's drafts.
It's taking a while to get its stride. Clone Wars dealt with some heavy stuff early on and the target audience for Rebels is much younger than that. This season seems a bit disjointed, especially after the excellent mid-season movie/premier "Siege of Lothal". Art-wise and sound-wise it's very Star Wars. The story too is the classic coming of age story and the latest episode had a lot in common with ANH's Death Star scenes.
