Wave 3 and beyond Suggestions for Empire and Rebels

By SterlingKnight, in Star Wars: Armada Off-Topic

The Interdictor Cruiser is the Immobilizer unless you are talking about giving the Empire the Interdictor class Cruiser from the KOTOR era. I would suggest adding a small ship to the Empire and a second large if you are giving the rebel another MC80 variant because the Rebels having more large hulls then the Empire doesn't fit the theme very well IMO. I would personally prefer the empire getting large hulls in waves 3 and 4 (Tector and Secutor class Star Destroyers perhaps) with the rebels getting their second large in wave 4 and it being a Dauntless class rather then a winged MC80 but the last part is very unlikely IMO.

The Lambda Shuttle is my favorite spacecraft in Star Wars, maybe in all fiction. I don't know why. I hope they stick it in wave 3.

Arquitens Light Cruiser and maybe a Broadside Cruiser for the Imperials, I've also spoken of the Acclamator but some think it is too entrenched in the PT. The Rebels naturally need a GR-75. Whether it gets the small ship or the squadron treatment is to be determined.

But I do think there needs to be some sort of out or ending point. I don't think Armada needs what is happening/has happened to X-Wing. Too many ships.

While I don't overly mind a slower release schedule than X-wing say at max two per year, I think it is way too early to think of an end point when we just got a second wave. I somewhat expect at some point we will see a scum faction, which might be interesting if they are limited to mostly small ships and a few medium ships. Seeing as that would make them really different to fly against the other factions while they use their medium and large ships.

And while I would enjoy them releasing clone wars era ships, or even adding Republic or Separatists factions I kinda doubt it.

End point? Why would you want that?

The moment there are no more waves, is the moment the game dies.

I disagree, It does fit in well with the universe. MC80s were supposed to be unique. So having 2 variants of it would work easily. The Rebels had a mix of the two large ones. The Empire was all ISDs (and the SSD) as large capital ships as it was a symbol, and standardized. Show an ISD to anyone familiar with Star Wars, that's the Imperial ship. Show either of the Mon Cals, and they'll be recognized as Rebels.

As far as especially the artist-was-wrong-class Star Destroyers, hell no. It's the same Saxonite crap that gives us the Tector, and 'Interdictor-class Star Destroyer' (because someone drew it with the iconic ISD bridge, so it's got to be bigger, nevermind that it's gravity wells are individually bigger than an actual Interdictor's) vs the actual Interdictor. I'd prefer clone wars ships enter the game before those three idiocies. Otherwise, I want my giant Neb-B (or tiny CR90)... or the ISD scaled off that one CR90. ;)

500 points so we get closer to some cool looking fleets ! Less X-wing like and more Armada like.

Imperial Interdictor (the only canon Interdictor we have actually "seen")

1st Order Star Destroyer

Imperial Elite Fighter Pack which includes:
*Tie Defender

*Tie Phantom

*Tie Punisher

*Tie (something, maybe Hunter)

Another split Rebels / Empire box with larger craft that would include:

*Lambda Shuttle

*Decimator

*Other craft.

Rebel transports, second the Lambda. And, anything made for X-wing should find it's way here (thinking of you, Gozanti and Ghost).

I want carriers. I mean, I know technically we *have* carriers, but they don't have carrier-rules. Some way to launch fighters or (why not) land/repair them.
Also, some way to make the Rebel fighters more feasible. My only idea is a small, cheap, SQD2-3 ship that can have Expanded Hangers, but I'm sure a smarter person than I can come up with a better solution. It's just a crying shame that B-Wings/Y-Wings rarely hit at their weight-class.

But anyway, as for actual capital ships, I would love to see more of the ships from the X-Wing/TIE Fighter games. Mon Cal Light Cruisers, those huge H-shaped freighters, Assassin-class corvettes, etc...

And, since we're dreaming, I'd love to see Republic/Separatist ships added eventually. But that's almost certainly post Wave 3.

I would love all of the capships from the X-Wing games and Rebellion. Maybe even release the Frigate introduced in Battlefront II though rename it. I hated how often ship classes a quick glance would tell you were already in use in a period got reused for a vastly different ship class in Legends

The Empire could use another star destroyer that happens to be a more fighter centrist...and not to mention it's cannon and looks rather spiffy.

It also served in the Imperial Era. My thought process is if the Victory can serve on, so can the Venator.

Escort Carrier for Imps.

Flurry Bulk Cruiser for rebs:

Add these plus an elite fighter pack with TIE Defenders, E-Wings, and 2 other ships I can't think of off the top of my head, and thats my Wave 3.

Edit: Maybe even add more unique squadrons to the fighters we already have, like Steele for TIE Advanced, Biggs for X-Wing, etc.

I would prefer the Secutor still. A Secutor is basically a Venator to an Imperial's Victory. Larger then an Imperial with a lot more fighters but lighter armaments.and it is canon as well.

I'd just like to see the ships get progressively bigger. Armarda is about epic battles so leave the smaller stuff for X wing.

I doubt that will happen since we already have one of the largest Legends rebel ship classess, and the largest currently canon rebel ship class in the game. There is a couple of Legends rebel ship classes larger then an MC80 but not many.

Good news for me and those like me who like the smaller Star Wars capships but not so good for those who expect bigger and bigger ships.

Edit: The Empire might get a few slightly larger craft but even they don't have many without getting into SSD territory.

I've been told Age of Rebellion's new sourcebook Lead By Example introduced the Maelstrom -class battlecruiser - based on the Maelstrom from Legends:

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Maelstrom_(warship)

Summary:

Maelstrom-class battle cruiser - Ship from the Clone Wars, from the family of the Venator and Acclamator ships at the start. At the time of their introduction, the largest vessels in the Republic Navy. Can carry an entire wing of starfighters, and a full clone army. However, they were unpopular and were phased out soon after the introduction. They required a massive amount of resources to keep running and were generally considered to be too expensive. This new class is based upon the mention of the Maelstrom from the old Living Force campaign. The Rebel Alliance has at least one - the Simoom.

I still think in the future they will stick to 1 or 2 larges out of 4 ships, maybe 3 if they ever do a scum faction, per wave barring a ST release pack after VIII or IX.

Most people I play with aren't ever planning for more then one or two large ships per fleet which limits sales compared to the small and mediums IMO.

I'd just like to be able to have two really cool looking fleets, for the rebels that requires the Liberty. I'd also like to see the MC80a (wingless Liberty) because they are actually my favourite of the Mon Cal designs, but I know that's a way off. GR-75s are a must too.

I would like to see clone wars era ships too, Venators and Acclamators vs Providences, Munificents and Recuscants, and a host of smaller craft

In Lead By Example - FFG had the MC80A be the Home One -type cruiser.

Honestly all I want for Wave 3 for the Imperial side is the Resurgent Class aka the Finalizer and for the Rebels the Liberty Class.

I want to see what they do with the GR-75, there's a lot FFG can do with it.

Haven't bought into Armada yet, but seeing anything from the old Imperial Source Book from the WestEnd Games RPG would help motivate me.

No such luck other then the Victory class so far. I would love to see the Carracks and Strikes even if I don't have an Imperial fleet atm. I wouldn't mind seeing the Escort Carriers and Lancers though I wouldn't use them myself. I rarely use fighters in Armada and the Lancer is so overspecialized I almost never use them in any game if I have the choice.
