X17 Undercosted

Engineering Team and Raymus.. too many people mess this one up :D

It would have to read like Expanded Hanger Bay and say something to the effect of "Increase the ships engineering value by 1"

It took me a few re-readings to see what you were getting at. I think most people read Engineering Team and the wording makes it sound like it adds to the overall engineering value, but instead it adds a single extra point to the value generated by a command.

Even then, however, the point stands: regenerating and redistributing 4 shields or more every turn is a huge defensive boost. Combined with a Brace action, that's basically a complete rejection of all damage from nearly every ship in the game.

In a world where many ships have 2x Redirect tokens, XI7s are awesome. I'm not sure what Lyraeus' math is where "5 damage is needed to be useful" or whatever, but if you have 3 ships all equipped with XI7s shooting at a single target, that brace gets exhausted quick and then he's left with piddly 1-damage redirects. It drills through shields y'all.

1 XI7 upgrade in your list may not be worth it. 3 are.

Yep. Even with the brace, nearly all of the relevant damage goes into the target shields. If a wave of fighters knocks those shields down, I'm perfectly happy with my opponent taking all but one damage straight to the hull.

So let's go through the math shall we.

At 1 damage they redirect the one point.

At 2 damage they brace and redirect or just redirect 1 taking 1.

At 3 damage they brace to 2 and redirect 1 and take 1 or they redirect 1 taking 2.

At 4 damage they brace to 2 and redirect 1 and take 1 or they redirect 1 taking 3

At 5 damage they brace to 3 and redirect 1 taking 2 and if they don't they redirect 1 taking 4.

The goal is to deal 2 or more damage after the brace. Though you are right. Having multiple XI7 Turbolasers is the way to do it
