Firespray + Aces

I am working on a Firespray + Imperial Aces build. Here is mine right now. (Keep in mind I don't have Soontir YET)

I would like your advice on a build using 2 Aces and 1 Firespray, nothing else. I don't want you saying screw that, use 2 Ties. Please. Thanks in advance.

In general Autothrusters are preferred on squints, but I see you don't have a Starviper.

It's good to see someone using the Bounty Hunter, it's a decent ship, even naked. It should be somewhat easy to cover the Forespray's flanks with the squints as long as you don't get out of formation in the rocks or something.

I'm sure others can give you better advice though.

This. In a competitive environment I'd say you are spending too much on ships for too little return. Autothrusters should replace the shield emitters, saving points for either a small cannon or a better pilot on the JV-7 (Imperials don't fly firesprays, it's a JV7 Escort shuttle dammit!).

Imperial Firesprays represent the Empire hiring outside contractors to do some of the necessary dirty work when dealing with scum and rebels. It's the closest we will get to mercenaries for the two original factions.

Since you only have one stealth device (perhaps the only reason to pick up a Scyk) I would say do this:

I took second place in a local tournament with CON SPACE:

Lost in the final to fat han + 3 Zs. Prior to that the only ships in fought were Aggressors and Firespray, so the ion cannon wasn't that useful. The jammer was a throwaway one-pointer and not that useful.

Would trading the ion and jammer for a mango have made a difference would you say?

Interceptors without Autothrusters are almost useless in the current meta. Even if you don´t have the card, if you want to try your squad in competitive play, try to get some of them

Don't you get two SD in a Firespray? Also Scyks are the only ships that come with flechette cannons, which while niche do have a place in some ship builds (particularly with Vrill).

I've flown BH/Soontir/Jax and it performed decently -- in that case I used Jax as the ace killer and just put on VI and AT, 35-point Soontir, and BH with Tactician (you can do a lot with a 35/35/30 point split).

I'm planning to try a BH/Soontir/Vader and BH/Soontir/Sigma list soon. I like the idea of substituting the BH for the Palpmobile in a Palp + Aces list ... shame the BH is as costly as it is.

The PS 3 Bounty Hunter is your blocker. Hopefully your opponent will waste time shooting at it. Keep it's flight plan simple and concentrate on flying the two aces.

This list is 99 points so if you face other PS 9 aces you have a point for initiative bid.

I have found that targeting computer works better for me than the more defensive build of Stealth Device. You could put Stealth on Turr to keep him around longer.

I find it is a decent balance in terms of firepower and hitpoints, and it messes with the initiaitve choice if my opponent has PS9 pilots. Too bad I can't squeeze gunner or rebel captive in.

I prefer using a blocker/controller (BH), an arc-dodger (Fel) and a trailing crit-machine (Stele)

In general, you might want to wait more than 40 minutes to bump. Particularly on American Thanksgiving as a large chunk of the player base may be occupied.

It's hard to come up with a list given limited expansions but it can be done. I wouldn't bet on winning a store comp or anything though.

I'd run autothrusters and tie mk2 on lorrir, he's more fragile, but more mobile and can easily flank / activate autothrusters. Now you've got points for a recon spec on the hunter. And two points for something, a seismic charge maybe, you don't need initiative at that lower p.s. as often

Tie mk.I I just gives you two green banks. Nor worth the 1 point and a modification shot on an interceptor. Recon spec on a bounty hunter is really good, but not sure it's worth neutering a perfectly good interceptor

Side note, I ran Jax with Hull+Shield and PTL in the turret heavy meta a couple waves ago pre-auto thrusters and he's an incredibly survivable ship and was one of the most feared and hated ships in my meta at the time, I still prefer auto thrusters, especially in the TLT meta, but it's really not as bad as it sounds, since any single extra health tends to mean multiple extra health thanks to PTL.

I know you said "aces" but I think a RG here makes a better ace than Lorrir. You could run a basic BH plus Jax with hull, stealth and PTL (35 points) and RG with the same kit (31 points).

Imperial Boba may not be competitive, but with what you have, you're not going to be able to field any of the uber competitive lays. This list gives you flexibly of all PS 8, and have a couple different target priorities.

I do very much recommend getting an interceptor pack or two, the starviper for autothrusters, and a few tie fighters

Green 3 banks are worth it when running PTL imo. Makes you a lot less predictable. You really learn to appreciate them when flying TLT Y-Wings.

I have 2 SDs. Firespray comes with 2.

30pt inquisitor

You can go down to Wampa and chaser or a VI inquisitor instead of Juke to get Kath an EPT.
