Wave 9 Speculation, or what EU ship will we see next?

By DariusAPB, in X-Wing

They will, definitly. I expect both movies to fill about 1.5 waves of Rebels and Imperials, with maybe one iconic scum ship (although it is more likely that Slave 1 is going to take that part in one of the movies). The rest still has to be EU/Rebels, which I put into one pot, since Rebels draws so much from the EU.

Also punch me for forgetting about the amazing scummy LEGO sets of old and appareantly new (although I avoid spoilers, so I didn't look at any of this). I stand corrected on scum being marketable to a mainstream audience. I don't expect their lightness on ships to be changing in the new movies, though. After all both OT and PT just had Slave 1.

This time around though, they're doing a "Marvel Universe" affair, so expect a lot more going on in terms of characters, significant background detail, and foundations laid to build out from... I mean, they're already releasing books for non-major "scum" characters from TFA(!) (c.f. "Tales From a Galaxy Far, Far, Away: Aliens" - four novels based around "scum" characters and another one whose title eludes me about a female assassin character)

It's like getting the backstory for all the characters in the ANH cantina at release, rather than being filled in years later via the EU.

I am pretty sure some of these characters will have their own ships...

TIE...AGGRESSOR...TIE TIE AGGRESSOR!

Ruthless

Twin

Laser

Turret

let the horrible visages of slaughtered Meta flow into you!

I just want to see a mix of old and new in each wave.

Underworld ace pack with real PS Starviper and Scyk pilots

New generation pilot pack with FA era pilots on older ships.

The heavy Rihkxyrk (oh gods, don't try to read it aloud!) and Vaksai for true Black Sun epic games

That is getting me somewhat hyped, might have to pick those books up if I end up liking the movie. I just love the scummy side of the force!

There are two Scum-ish minifigures in the Millennium Falcon set and one in the Rey's Speeder set. Don't think it's too much of a spoiler; LEGO often puts villains in hero sets and heroes in villain sets so kids can have both sides out of the box.

It's not actually that broken if you consider that the ship itself has probably 4HP behind AGI2

Of course, that's not necessarily the stats FFG would give it. Either way though, it's still a hell of a lot less sturdy than a Y-Wing. So you may get a lot of attacks with them, but you won't be getting them for long.

Nah, fitting an entire extra crew, control systems, power feeds for the turret, PLUS cutting a lot of size out of the panels so the power generation drops has GOT to drop AGI.

TIE scout and Jabbas Space Cruiser (Star Jewel) would be nice. I think the latter will be a huge ship, so at least I would like to see the TIE scout (preferably with some cool new game mechanics, maybe kind of a support ship)

The Star Jewel/Dragon Pearl is almost certain, but it won't be in wave 9 due to huge ships being their own waves.

There's not really a lot of good options for Rebels remaining without dipping into the likes of T-wings/Starchasers, though if they get another large the Pulsar Skate would not be a bad option (too soon for more larges though).

Scum-wise I'd really like to see the Cloakshape but I don't know if we're going to since it kind of crosses into Y-wing/Khiraxz territory. The Scurrg could be a thing. Scum YT-1300 will probably never happen and I can't see the "new" Falcon really making it into the game since it's the same bloody ship as the original, new pilots not withstanding.

Imps-wise I don't really know; the missile boat is unlikely to show up so soon after the munitions "fix" and the gunboat should've been here as of wave 2, so who knows? There's almost definitely not going to be any more TFA stuff besides the shuttle (which may really be too big) and the TIE/sf.

All i want for wave 9 is:

First Order:

Special Forces TIE

Landing craft

Kylo Ren's command shuttle

Resistance:

Millennium Falcon with scum dial, square dish and illicit SLAM drive

New "B" wing

Black and Orange T-70

Scum

Miy'Till assault fighter/bomber

Shadow Caster/scuurg

Wave 9 will probably be more First Order & Resistance stuff from the movie for Rebel and Empire.

The only Legends (non-canon EU) stuff will probably be for scum (as I don't think there will be any in TFA - introing too many factions in the movie would make it confusing) tho there's quite a bit of stuff popping up in Rebels and other media. The HH-87 Starhopper (Rover), Kom'rk-class fighter/transport (Gauntlet), and the new ship from Rebels (Shadow Caster & Banshee).

I'd say it'll probably be:

Empire small and large (SF TIE & Command Shuttle)

Rebels one new ship (Either something not yet seen from the movie or from later this season in Rebels - possibly a shuttle type ship with 0 movement on the dial) and possibly a new epic with a black squadron repaint (from movie but yet to be seen in any trailer)

Scum small (Starhopper? Cloakshape?) and large (Gauntlet, Shadow Caster/Banshee, Havoc?)

A new falcon release is also very very likely - possibly shared between Rebel and Scum with pilots from the new movie for Resistance and Legends pilots (or a scum versions of the current rebel pilots prior to them joining the Rebels) for Scum.

A Scum Aces or an Epic ship to boost the underwhelming scum ships is also due, either in wave 9 or shortly after. The Scyk is terribly unpopular among players and wouldn't be out of place with a Minstrel-class.

A small scum ship that can take astromechs.

A particularly obscure tie variant that fills a role I never knew I wanted.

That boat thing...

I've been waiting a long time for the Alpha class Starwing. Please please don't disappoint.

GUNBOAT FOREVER!

But of course what I would absolutely love is a space tug token in a Storm Trooper Transport large ship set.

You gunboat fanboys....

^Let's put it this way: the gunboat should have replaced the Phantom in Wave 4 if anyone was going by ship popularity. 4 waves is a lot of waiting.

Alpha Gunboat as a Rogue One movie tie in.

My uncle works for FFG, he said TIE Avenger and Assault Gunboat are coming out in wave 9.

The phantom offers much more mechanically

Given its appearance in Armada, already, I expect to see Nym's Havoc in a the not-so-distant future; if not wave 9, then probably 10. So far it's the only ship from the Rogues & Villains expansion not either released or announced for X-wing. (Not that I want it so much, mind you; I'd have rather had Ghost as the fourth Rebel ship for R&V...)

Popularity of boats is a myth inspired by a rather tight group here on forums

Still, more popular than either the Phantom or the InterdictorPunisher.

I really hope they do the new F/O Ties that have the turrets on them.
