Is the existence of Stresshog enough to say we will never see ept rebel Y's?

Easy one to start though unsure if would constitutr broken.. Wired to make output even more consistent.

Well, the y-wing is currently the only rebel ship with just 2 named pilots.

Makes sense that it would eventually get something new, however with y-wings performing well as is, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

The best stresshog EPTs would be Lightning Reflexes or Adrenaline Rush. It would allow a single K-turn which could be huge for keeping the Hog in the fight. If you just want pure damage EPTs, upgrading to Horton is an option, his built in ability mimics Predator well enough, but the setup costs 33 points instead of 26.

I don't want to have the same experience with the stresshog. variety is good for everybody, and a too-good-stresshog would endanger that. massively.

I think this is just about right. An EPT would be okay with something like a 1-point tax. But in general, the stresshog is a very solid ship, especially with TLT; its only weaknesses are lack of actions and inability to turn around, both of which could be solved with the right EPTs.

May I ask what was your list and how well did it do?

of course; was a 150pt tournament and I came in 2nd - though we were only 10 people I think (the crowd really like their 100pt and shy away from much else, hence tournaments that are sth different aren't that well visited). I ran

Miranda, tlt plus c3p0 (who was not used ONCE, so next time sth else^^)

does really well against most lists and is something -really- different from imp.phantoms and ceptors, which I fly most times.

a huge problem was a 3IG list, which just sniped miranda in 1 turn and evaded every.single.effing.gun that was pointed at them that turn (glittercrack.. and good dice).

but was a fun game none the less which I even then could have won with some better dice (every game I can blame the dice and the dice only IS a fun game, IMO); ended in 105? to 75 or so.

the stresshog is really key here and just shuts 1 ace really down.. the rest delivers the killblows (little, little bites.. but many of them). everybody went straight to miranda, which gave the hog plenty of opportunities to do its job. I quite like flying lowPS and rebels, but am really afraid that stresshog is some kind of "easymode" on those fragile imp.aces which I so like. time will tell.

Happy to see others thoughts. I always desperately wanted ept rebel Y's but I just don't see it ever happening due to this one build which is a shame but I think may be the situation we are stuck with hence my OP.

Fluff wise, guess it can be said that the elite rebel pilots move over to more advanced and less antiquated starfighters (though the Headhunter pilots argue agaisnt that).

Maybe could get around this conundrum by giving a pilot ability that means can only attack once or similar so that EPT boosts turrets other than TLT?

Consider the y-wing dial, and the stresshog pilots...

(25pt) Horton Salm is alot like getting double VI + Predator (5 points in cost) for 5 points more than a (20pt) grey squadron.
(23) Dutch is kinda like getting a squad leader + VI (3 points) over the cost of a grey...

IF you could run an EPT, Which EPT would you run on a stresshog? - well Predator helps get damage through - but the stresshog usually doesn't care about dealing lots of damage. so... Crackshot while good, is 1 of a billion attacks and damage focused. If you want predator, or VI just run a named pilot.

Outmaneuver isn't so helpful on a y-wing, and neither is Opportunist or push the limit - since you'll be stressed. Cut all of the action epts out too - and any of the stress epts (elusiveness). Lone wolf would be good, but your stress hog is usually not alone enough to benefit. Ruthlessness would be amazing - but that's empire only - so not an issue.

I think some of the cheaper effects (decoy / wired / determination ) can be nice - but there's really only one stand out EPT to me...

Lightning Reflexes.

You would be able to 180 when you need it. The ability to swing your ship around quickly back into the fight is the one thing that I think could push the BTL -a4 stresshog into being crazy powerful. (I think it's flat out better than adrenaline rush for this ship, as while you gain the ability to pull a 3 turn, 4 straight or k-turn with adrenaline rush, with LR, you can 180 on any white move - which gives you sloops, 2 turns, 3 k-turn , and lets you pull a 180 on a bump.. )

fluff-wise: you can already get your ept-ywing. you just have to use the right droid, so no stresshog possible. so from that point of view, -you- should be happy ;-)
