Wave 2 from Announcing to Hand Summary

By Cubanboy, in Star Wars: Armada

Just a quick recap on wave 2 for looking ahead to wave 3. This is a rough time frame for about when it will be in our hands.

April 6, 2015 Wave 2 announced

July 7, 2015 Wave 2 At the Printer

Sept 27, 2015 wave 2 on the boat

Nov 17, 2015 Wave 2 shipping to warehouse

Nov 27, 2015 Wave 2 in hand

Which is 235 days.

In the past X-wing had about 6-7 months per wave to hand, I think there was some issues and that's why Sullest Happend as a way to get models out and say sorry. Going forward I would say 180-200 days is about the time frame we are looking at and with mintures Fridays tend to be the release date. (Epic ships in X-wing have a different time frame and tended to be quicker they would be known as an off release)

Not that it's a set in stone but it's a guide next time a wave is Announced when it will be in hand.

I did a quick look and did not see it but if anyone has In development date would be helpful.

I wonder if they've actually have Wave III in development a while and it's going to arrive sooner after the announcement, they're just waiting till wave 2 is in our hands. That'd be totes amazeballs.

I have no doubt they have wave 3-7 prop thought out and a couple ships created but I think they bounce a lot of ideas and don't finalize anything for a good number of days. If they push stuff faster it's going to be bad for the amount of stuff that would be broken or rules messed up, plus over saturation of the buyers is a thing. If your picking up more then 1 of each pack your looking at 200-400 ish per wave and that's a lot of money to pony up if a release is sooner then 6 months. Plus a lot of people do both X-wing and Armada which adds up fast.

No please keep releases clousure to 200 days.

I just meant as a one off, since Wave II was delayed.

I can't imagine that the plan is to have Wave 3 be out that much later than Wave 2. Bear in mind that the announce time to release time included a Wave 1 release partway through it. I think what's more likely is that they realized that they announced Wave 2 far too early, then had a delay (multiple delays?) in the process creating a SIGNIFICANTLY longer time between announcement and release than they wanted and it's made them gun-shy about making an announcement. We will likely hear something soonish, with a release date tentatively planned for 5-6 months out.

I hope so, I approve of shorter windows between announcement and delivery - I'd prefer it to be really short! We need time with the enw stuff we have to enjoy it without our attention being stolen by announcements of stuff that isn't out yet.

I wonder if they deliberately announced Wave 2 too early, in order to increase sales/buzz around the Core set and Wave 1?

Because I know a lot of people in my area suddenly took notice of Armada, once the ISD, Home One and Rogues & Villains were announced.

Maybe (kinda a skeptical view of FFG to take). Certainly, Wave II is the wave that makes the game what it was designed to be, I could understand them wanting people to be aware of the end goal.
