Droid companion or sidekick

By LolKnight, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Ok so I have a jawa bounty hunter gadgeteer PC (srry for misspell) and I thought it might be cool to give him a droid as a sidekick or companion but I don't want a astromech droid or protocol droid instead I want a really small droid like remote from the game star wars knights of the old republic 2

If it's nothing but comic relief, just let them have it.

If it's useful either charge them the credits (look at what it's "as useful as" as a guide) or a small amount of XP (FaD introduced the Animal Bond talent at 15xp for a sil.0 animal companion - I see no reason why it'd have to be an aminal).

well the jawa is actually my PC and I thought it'll be ccol to give him a companion. and in the EoE core rule book isn't there something that talks about droids as companions?

That's a great place to start then. Otherwise you can probably petition your GM. I don't think they should have a problem with it - it's a neat little concept that can't give you an unfair advantage (the GM is deciding what it can and can't and does and doesn't do, after all) and it provides them with another way to feed information and/or plot hooks to a PC (Luke wouldn't have gotten to go on any adventures had R2 not shown up, after all).

I think that if you have it start out as just a little companion it should be fine and then as you develop your character and the companion a little maybe it can be granted some skills. This would be up to you and your GM as to how much it could actually do.

I really like this idea and was about to check my book before I saw you said it lol. If you don;t have the FaD book I can see where that wouldn't work though lol

One of the core books discusses 'droid sidekicks'; I think it's EotE (EotE CRB pg 88, sidebar "Droid companions and favorite toys"). The suggestion is basically to add an NPC droid to the party as a GM character. This gives the GM an 'in-game' voice and allows the GM to play the droid in a way that doesn't screw up the story or power curve.
