How many skills can be used in a Hero's turn

By SteveDub, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

In a game my players where performing 2 actions but in some cases many skills. Most of these skills did not have the Action icon or the statement exhaust. Example is

Avric: Uses Prayer of Healing and Exhaust the card, then goes on to use Armor of Faith, as it states when you use Prayer of Healing, now he also has Cleansing Touch as that states when you use Prayer of Healing, does that also trigger or only one depending on which one you choose. As Prayer of healing is one action he then attacks, So should he have only done 2 skills and not attacked or is he allowed to perform the 3 skills and still attack?

Mordrog: Moves, then plays Oath of Honor as an Action, he defeats the monster and then plays his Advance which says to exhaust this card. With this combo he has performed 3 actions is that correct?

I guess my question is if the skill card does not have a costs, exhaust or Fatigue can the player just keep using these skills, one after each other and still perform other actions, move, open doors, attack, revive a hero or are they limited to just using the Use a Skill action to trigger 1 skill even if the cost is it to exhaust the card or pay a fatigue token?

most of the forums state the OL is too over powered, I found our first game to be one sided on the players side when they were playing 3 skills in a row?

Please help clear this up for me.

Skills that do not require an action in fact 'do not require an action', and there is no limit on the number of 'non-action' abilities a hero may use in a turn beyond his own stamina and ability to trigger them all.

When "prayer of healing" is used, 'armor of faith' 'cleansing touch' and 'divine fury' happen AUTOMATICALLY. There is no choice involved. They are abilities that enhance 'prayer' and make it do more each time it is used. If he buys 'holy power', ALL of those things will happen to BOTH heroes (both get a yellow for their first attack, both get a brown, both can discard a condition.) The disciple is a very powerful healer (one of the best).

Oath + Advance together = just one action, since Advance is not an action. The knight is also one of the best warriors for this reason.

SteveDub,

Skills that do not have an action icon do not cost an action to use, but you can still only use them once per requirement.

Exhaust cards is self-explanatory, they are exhausted until the next turn.

A hero can use as many skills as he has action and stamina to use. That is why skills that require no actions and no stamina is so good..

For example, A disciple could use Prayer of healing, armor of faith, cleansing touch, Divine fury, holy power and take two actions such as two attacks, two moves or a move and a search, all in the same turn.

I have to point out though, that this many skills is usually attained late in the campaign. At the start, heroes should only have the 0 point skill, and that's when the OL can really thump them good.

ETA: Like Zaltyre just thumped me for taking too long to research my post...

Just trying to be helpful. To your credit, I'm currently updating my glossary- so I have the answers right here. :)

Thanks all, all players gained a Exp point after the First Blood and also got one after the first encounter of the Fat Goblin as such they spent these on the 1 Exp value cards. I have 4 players and me as OL, first time as OL but lost all games, they seemed to just kill the monsters easily were I only had 1 grey dice and kept rolling a single shield.

thanks for the help.

Side note- players do NOT get XP every encounter. One XP per quest, not one XP per encounter. No XP for rumors.

One small addition to Zaltyre's comment. Rumor quests do not give XP unless explicitly stated.

I disagree with this. There is no such a restriction for hero skills. For instance, Runemaster's Ghost Armor can be used as many times as desired on the same attack, as if it were Jain's hero ability. If they do not exhaust, you can use them as long as you can pay the cost (usually, fatigue).

Depends on the trigger. I'll address this in the glossary. Ghost armor can be used a bunch of times per attack, nimble can only be used once per space moved. It has to do with the difference between a trigger window and a one-time event.
