I just introduced my buddy to X-Wing three hours ago. I hadn't seen him in a good long while and we decided to meet and catch up on current events. He had just gotten a few game he wanted to show me, (Battlefront, Fallout 4) and I had a new game I wanted to show him (X-Wing).
One problem on my part though: I gave all of my Rebel fleet to my brother thinking he liked the game. Turns out he only liked owning the models (fair enough), and now I was entirely out of Rebels.
"No biggie right?" I said, "We can just do Imperial Warlord Battles ala the Expanded Universe; it'll be fine!".
So we go over to his place, and fail the Coop speeder mission in BF until we can barely breath from laughter; then I pull out X-Wing. "It's fairly simple:" says I, "most of the stuff is just written on the cards.". He "oooh"s and "aahh"s, and after a bit asks the pertinent question: "So where's the X-wing?".
There's just no pleasing some people.
So we pull the desk over, and I teach him the game as best I can using a 1v1 with Acadamy Ties and he likes it quite a bit. Next game is a 3v1 (he wanted a challenge, I gave him more ships, but promised to pull no punches with my build or playstyle), with 2 Ties Pilot skills 5 and 8, plus Soontir Fel on his side (He picked Fel himself just reading the abilities; no input from me at all!) and Maarek Stele for me. He wins in about four turns, after I one-shot one of his Ties with a critical.
He wants to try out the Defender next. I suggest a duel.
He's gotten a handle of picking upgrades by now, and so we both pick just one ship to go wild on: no turn limit, no point limit, just first to the finish.
He takes Col. Vessery with Ion Cannon, Cluster Missiles, Outmaneuver, and Autothrusters. I take Maarek Stele with Push the Limit, Tie Advanced xv1, Advanced Targeting Computer, and Advanced Homing Missile.

19 turns.
Two hours and two smoke breaks later the last lonely hit-point on my Advanced is killed by a Target-Locked Outmaneuver shot from from range three, my Evade token and Focus only got me up to two versus his three.
He was nearly in tears from laughing his head off, and wants to try a game with the corvettes now.
So how about you guys? What have been your most epic duels?
