YT-2400 + 2x A-Wings

By SquareNacho, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Just a quick list I threw together as I'm wondering whether or not to purchase the YT-2400 I know there are lists far better than this but I wanted to include the A-wing as it is currently My favorite ship in the game and with it being so nimble and fun to pilot I wanted something that will run just as well but brings more punch to the table!

Ideally I want ships that are quick and can move around the table fairly easily without having to worry too much on red maneuvers.

So here's the list:

-YT-2400 Freighter

-Dash Rendar

-Marksmanship

-HLC

-Proton Rockets

-"Leebo"

Total: 51pts

-A-Wing

-Jake Farrell

-Chardaan Refit

Total: 22pts

-A-Wing

-Tycho Celchu

-Chardaan Refit

-PTL

Total: 27pts

Squadron Total: 100pts

Please let me know what you think or what I could change to improve either the A

s or the YT!

Honestly, those three pilots are incredibly cost prohibitive to all fly together. You're literally getting the best out of none of them. You also have some dubious upgrades on Dash, like Marksmanship and "Leebo", and even Proton Rockets are only "OK" on Dash.

And with Dash, you really, really want that Outrider title.

I would downgrade, at the very least, at least one of the A-Wings to a Green Squadron Pilot. That'll give you room to put PTL and autothrusters on both A-Wings and create enough room for a very lightly built Dash Rendar. Something like:

Dash Rendar

Outrider

HLC

"Leebo" (because you don't have room for the much better Engine Upgrade)

Green Squadron Pilot

PTL

Autothrusters

Chardaan Refit

Jake Farrell

PTL

A-Wing Test Pilot

Veteran Instincts

Chardaan Refit

Autothrusters

Even that doesn't drive me super crazy, as I'm incredibly fond of Proton Rockets on Jake, and without something to help out you're looking at an easy to chase down Dash that is your only significant source of damage. Personally, I'd be tempted to downgrade both A-Wings to give you "Super Dash".

Dash Rendar

Outrider

HLC

Kyle Katarn

PTL

Engine Upgrade

Green Squadron Pilot x2

PTL

Chardaan Refit

That leaves you with 98pts, so maybe a 1pt EPT for each of your A-Wings. Crackshot or Wired would work best, even Calculation would pair solid with PTL. Wired works well to give the As some extra defense (since you can't afford Autothrusters for both of em' anyways), Crackshot and Calculation might help cause more damage which you'll desperately need since Dash will almost certainly be your opponents primary target and might need to spend time focusing on staying alive.

I was looking at this combo too, not the specifics but the gist of it. Dash plus A-Wing support seems like fun. The 24 is possessed of a great dial and good ability and the zippy A-Wing seems like a natural pair.

Hi, academy pilot here.

IMO Leebo is actually decent if combined with experimental interface. Cheaper than PTL+EU combined with the downside that you can't boost as the 1st action, only have boost as the 2nd, and no room for Kyle Katarn crew compared to the Dash special. This, however, opens up the EPT slot for Dash to experiment. Preferably not Marksmanship though since that will bring adverse impact on your action economy. Predator/VI/Calculation/Crack Shot will spice up things better. Also like Comradebot said, prockets are better with Jake. I would sortie with the following list:

99 pts

Dash (53 pts)

Outrider

Predator

Mangler Cannon

Leebo

Experimental Interface

Jake (31 pts)

Test Pilot

Prockets

VI

PTL

Prototype Pilot (15 pts)

Chardaan Refit

You can opt to replace Prockets with Autothrusters for both Jake and the proto pilot. Mangler on Dash helps him to remove the doughnut zone while being overall a more volatile hitter, but predator definitely helps against the fickle red dice.

Leebo is a dangerous dude to be mixing with Experimental Interface. You can only afford to boost once using experimental interface because if you do it a second time, you are ionized and stressed (and likely dead soon after).

I think if mixing a-wings with Dash, Comradebot's list is probably the best way to go. Either crack shot or wired would make those a-wings okay for 21 pts a piece. Dash would still have to do the heavy lifting and probably take most of the attention, but the a-wings might be able to do alright in that scenario...

You're totally right. I was under the impression that all ion tokens are removed after performing a maneuver each round. Turns out I missed the part where the rule states that a large ship will have its 1 token lingering around until the second token hits. Yep Leebo is dangerous

Running Outrider title without EU can get messy. You get all sorts of things stuck up in your dough-nut hole. Trust me, it aint pretty. Be careful.

Thank's for the input fellas. I've gone back to the drawing board and had a think about it. Since I only have a limited collection of ships I'm restricted to what comes with each model. As I don't play S&V I wont have access to autothrusters or any of the scum exclusive upgrades that are only in those packs along with the respectable Rebel and Imperial forces.

Just as an over all strategy for this list I want the A's to be able to push up hard and remove any weaker targets or annoy/pester any stronger members of my opponents list. Hopefully getting behind them or at least out of their firing ark. With the YT-2400 I want him to be able to focus on providing fast yet stronger fire support than the A's but if he manages to get himself into a spot of bother the A's should be able to break and provide support for the YT.

Generally the two A's will fly in a loose formation depending on the situation or amount of targets and the YT will be on his own going for whatever poses a threat to himself or the A's. Think of it as you scratch my back I'll scratch yours.

However here is what I have come up with!

-Dash Rendar YT-2400:

-Stay on Target

-Cluster Missiles

-Heavy Laser Cannon

-Experimental Interface

-Lando Calrissian

-Outrider

2x Green Squadron Pilot

-Chardaan Refit

-Push The Limit
