Using the YT-2400

By shaner, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Mornin' folks, I bought this ship a while back and have yet to use it. I know it isn't the Falcon, but it looked cool and I thought hey...how bad can it be???

Anyways, just looking for some advice on using this ship. Are there certain lists that folks have found useful? Are there certain upgrades that are auto-includes??

Any advice will be super...I am trying out this vessel later today.

Thanks

Shaner

The meta build is super Dash, who has PTL, Engine Upgrade, Kyle Kartan crew, HLC and Outrider title. That one is really strong, but only has PS7. Tweaks can be made with VI/Lone Wolf and Recon Specialist.

Leebo can be build to be tanky with Determination. The generic is fun with HLC. Both Leebo and the generic don't need the title, since the dial is extremely good. Dash however benfits from it greatly. Eaden Vrill is a special case. He fits with a Gray Stresshog, but I don't feel like he is all that worth it.

Hello,

The YT-2400 is a great ship. Awesome dial and good survivability. Admiral Deathrain already highlighted the main upgrades and builds for it. My go-to Leebo version is Determination, HLC and Recon Specialist. You can also add a hull upgrade if you have the points, since it's one more hull that Leebo's ability + Determination can save if you get lots of crits. I also agree that the Outrider title is best reserved for Dash. As for Eaden Vrill, I just played a build with him yesterday and it was very strong:

Poe (VI, R5-P9, Autothrusters)

Gray (TLT, R3-A2, BTL-A4)

Vrill (Recon Specialist)

100 points

Poe...is he one of the new Xwing pilots??

Poe is THE new X-Wing pilot.

Question. Why are you putting Recon Spec on Vrill? I know double focus, but wouldn't another crew be better for Vrill specifically? Maybe Gunner or Merc CoP? If Vrill is there to use his ability, why not make him better at it? Double foci gets you defensive and offensive help, but I think that's kind of soft.

Something I have been enjoying is the Experimental Interface on the YT, combined with Sabotuer. Use barrel roll to get into R1 of somebody. Use EI to proc Sabotuer on someone. Then blast them to bits with your pwt at r1. Of course it's a late game trick for when you have some cards out on people, but I think this adds a whole new level to the YT. Maybe not a new level, but its definitely a nice trick.

If you run Dash with PTL, Outrider, Engine Upgrade and HLC, the key is to keep him at range 3 using your boost and barrel roll to dodge arcs and let the cannon do the work. His ability to ignore obstacles makes this easy to do and the trick is having something paired with him that gives the opponent a secondary threat.

Recon Specialist is my default crew for Firesprays (imperial, that is, K4 is a serious contender) and YT-2400, because it works so well with two green dice. Gunner sure is good, no one can argue with that, but the defensive power Recon Specialist brings at a reasonable price has so far always convinced me.

Got to agree with Admiral Deathrain on this. Recon Specialist has served me very well on the YT-2400.

Also on board with Recon Specialist.

Dash + Recon Specialist + Lone Wolf = Maneuver away from the rest of your team and dodge for dayz. You can hook it up with a Mangler-Outrider for 3 dice, double modified an no doughnut hole, and it only runs you 50 points.

Whenever you have 2 green dice, and EPT and a crew slot, consider Lone Wolf + Recon Spec, if you can maneuver to make Lone Wolf work. Definitely something I'm going to test out with our new man, Dengar. Ultra solid.

Not sure what EPT is???

Elite Pilot Talent

EPT is elite pilot talent. The upgrade slot that looks like a medal(so Push the limit and so on).

To add to the Dash and Leebo calls, a few of us on the forum have been intrigued by the other named pilot Eadon Vrill. Alongside a Stresshog (Y wing with R3a2 astromech) it's an interesting use of a rarely used pilot that also flies totally differently to the higher PS guys giving a different flavour to the ship.

I fly the YT-2400 like this:

Vrill + APL + Recon Spec

Dagger + FCS + E2 + Tactician + Ion Cannon

Hobbie Klivian + R3-A2

Yeah I have been really keen on making the 2400 work, but in an unexpected way. I think even a Fringer has merits that are overlooked in favour of the competitive builds.
